If a hard working bengali man/woman were to open an off-license selling alcohol to the public, our press and people would strongly reject to such buisness as it shows such desrespect towards islam.
However, in todays society the most common employment/buisness involving bangladeshi men/women (mostly men, only typed women to avoid sexism) seems to involve running or working in an indian resturaunt. My point is that, is'nt this the same as the off license senario, buying and selling alcohol, yet in our papers (when i say 'ours' i mean us as bangladeshies)i see bengali men proud of there well praised indian resturaunts and trying to boost sails by just advertising their cury......yeah right! Why not just open a takeaway, its the same thing minus the alcohol.. Anyway, your thoughts please.. Takecare, aff. |

A very Good question.
your right bro, but we bangladeshis have too much greed and will do whatever to become wealthy and be better than others. I don't favour the selling of alcohol especially by muslims. Islam abviously says no to Alcohol as this is an intoxicant, which is apparent. I tell u what have you heard or anyone of MUMTAZ PAAN HOUSE in BRADFORD, the non selling alcohol restaurant. Its is one of the busiest in the UK and even at lunch times it full Yes!! all full, but no alcohol. Allah has blessed those businesses who refrain from Haram to Halal. So bro i get your point but how are we to change this, would our families, parents, friends agree. Tell me how many young guys who can have a better future get stuck in restaurant PLENTY!! . A BIG Mistake!!!! The first step would be for all the BD men is to concentrate on education at least to degree level if possible and this may/abviously keep us away from the so called restaurants. Anyway nice topic. take care ------------------ Abs |

Abs, I think the catering buisness for our people is fine in the sense that it is a respectable job/carear, education or no education.(sorry being rude, how are you bye the way?)
However my only rejection to such a buisness is the involvment of alcohol, and so I am impliying the above statement to non-alcoholic buisness such as takeaways. Whats wronge with opening just a takeaway? Its good to hear that there is actually a non-alcoholic resturaunt and that someone has made the first step towards my initial point. As this is the first Ive heard of it, Im hoping its a slow transition, rather then it remaining the only one of its kind. Your right money does have a large say in this, as a typical european would like to wash down his/her curry with a pint. I think the bangladeshi press hold a powerful tool on this matter that is, influence. If they were to see this point and encourage our people to avoid the darker side to this buisness then Im sure our elders would attempt to do somthing about it. Anyway nuff for now. Takecare. aff |
