Famous People - A Wealth of Bangladeshi Talent
There are a number of famous people from Bangladesh who have managed to excel in their particular field. Not many of them are known beyond Bangladesh, but there are those unique few who have even achieved worldwide success. One such person is the model and designer Bibi Russel.
Bibi started her life of fame as a model for a number of leading fashion houses like Emporio, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfield and Kenzo. After a long and successful career as a model, Bibi Russel decided to head home to Bangladesh and pursue another career path. In 1994 she began work as a Bangladeshi designer, using indigenously woven fabrics in her haute-couture fashion masterpieces. Besides putting Bangladeshi fashion on the map, Bibi Russel has also contributed to the economy since she now employs some 35 000 weavers in her home country. Her company, Bibi Productions, also makes hand-made shoes, buttons and jewelry. Bibi’s company has even expanded its services to include a number of products for the home – all of them hand-made in Bangladesh and popular all over the world.
Besides Bibi Russel there are a number of other people who have achieved great success and fame. Kazi Nazrul Islam has been honored with the title of ‘National Poet of Bangladesh'. Taslima Nasreen, Akhtaruzzaman llias, Ahmed Safa and many others have gained credit for their literary skills. The question is which one's have made it on the world stage? Hardly any. They may be great in BD but have done diddly squat elsewhere. Taslima Nasreen only achieved fame through noteriety. How many BD artists have made it into the Billboard 100 or can sell out Wembley Stadium or Madison Square Gardens?

Former Adviser to Bangladesh President M Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury tried for continution of democracy in Bangladesh at the cost of sacrificing even his life. Lt General Moeen U ahmed & his associates tried to attempted to kill him & attacked on February 26, 2007 at Maghbazar by unidentify gunmen & on September 7, 2007 at the Janaza (Funeral) of Late Khatib of Baitul Muqarram National Masjid of Bangladesh by a group of Army. At the instruction of Gen Moeen Brigadier A T M amin gave Mokhles Chowdhury a life threat to London over phone on September 15, 2008. Adviser and Minister Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury's fault was didn't allow Martial Law in Bangladesh. Moeen again & again sent enquiries & reenquiries of Taskforce, ACC, Army, DGFI, NSI separately marking by red pen to several areas of Mokhles Sir & found him as the honest like anything in this era. After that he tried to assasin him & by the grace of Allah they failed to do so.

Pls add the name of M Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury, former Adviser to the President of Bangladesh as well as Minister of State, who played very vital role in Bangladesh Statecraft during 2006-07 to save democracy & stopped planned Martial Law of General Moeen & his associates by maintaining lobbying with US & UN high officials & thr'u continued dialogues with then US Ambassador Patricia A Butenis & after so called 1/11 he was very vocal in the press, wrote series articles on said plan & going to USA, UN & Common Wealth in UK, he played very bold, courageous role as he is always outspoken historic personality & was interviewed by VOA, BBC, Channel- S, Bangla TV, Thikana, Bangla Patrika, Akhon Somoy, Probashi Voice, Probashi Barta, Bangla Post, Eurobangla etc & has authored many articles worldwide. Mr Mokhles Chowdhury solved political impasses in Bangladesh by holding dialogues with two major leaders of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina & Begum Khaleda Zia & making end of all the anti state political programmes including blockades, seize, general strikes Awami League & its allies had to join in national elections & by giving sentence & cancelling General Ershad's nomination withdrawn a faction of major parties from that elections & took over power in the name of constitution unconstitutionally & deprived Bangladesh from democracy. Adviser Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury was ousted by General Moeen & his associates as he was obstrucle towards his goal to capture Presidency. But Minister Mokhles Chowdhury, who was virtually running the state that time or in the helms of affairs of Bangladesh Governance used his links with then UN Secretary General Kofi A Annan, US Secretary of State Condolitsa Rice, Assitant Secretary of State Richard Boucher, Under Secretary General Nicholas Burns, US Congressman Josef Crowley thus he foiled all evil designs of anti democracy power hungry groups. Thereby Bangladesh most crucial time power handler proven honest through military continued verifications and enquiries-reenquiries & patriot personality, who sacrificed his family & everything & have been working for the nation, his role, resposibility must be upheld in your site. We should show that Bangladesh doesn't have everything negetive, we have also positive things for what we can proud.
