Pounding for Pithas in Bangladesh
This is a documentary on pounding rice flour in a very traditional Bangladeshi way. It is done manually by hand with kahail chaal i.e. wooden mortar and pestle. The rice flour is used to make various types of pithas i.e. rice cakes. The photography and video were taken during a trip to Dhaka and on Bhairab/Poshur river in January 2010. Enjoy!
