A glorious morning in crowded Aizawl, Mizoram, India. One can barely imagine that this concretized vertical state capital occupying every square inch of hillside space is that of Aizawl! Some of the buildings appear to be seven and eight storeys tall... One wonders if a proper earthquake analysis has been done in the region prior to allowing such unbridled construction!See the big cross on the hill-top and the sound of buses screeching to a halt at the bus-stop.The capital state as well as the largest city of Mizoram is Aizawl; the center of all important government offices, state assembly house and civil secretariat.Aizawl is also the main religious and cultural centers of the Mizos, the ethnic tribe of Mizoram. The city lies just north of the Tropic of cancer and is located at 3715 feet from the sea level. A birds eye view of the city will sure catch the attention of the beholder. Some of the notable places once you get to Aizawl city are Mizoram State Museum, Durtlang Hills, Mini Zoo, Bara Bazar, Luangmual Handicarfts Centre and Berawtlang Tourist Complex. Apart from these tourist sites, the nearby tourist attractions are Bung, Paikhai, Tamdil lake, Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary, Kolasib, Vantawng waterfalls, Champhai, Phawngpui, Saiha and Lunglei.courtesy: http://mizoram.nic.in/more/aizawl.htmThis footage is part of the professionally-shot broadcast stock footage archive of Wilderness Films India Ltd., the largest collection of imagery from South Asia.
