Kuakata (Bengali: কুয়াকাটা) is a panoramic sea beach on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. Located in the Patuakhali district, Kuakata has a wide sandy beach from where one can see both the sunrise and sunset. It is about 320 Kilometres south of Dhaka, the capital, and about 70 Kilometers from the district headquarters. The Kuakata beach is 30 km long and 6 km wide. The name Kuakata originated from the word 'Kua'-the Bengali word for "Well" which was dug on the sea shore by the early Rakhine settlers in quest of collecting drinking water, who landed on Kuakata coast in the eighteenth century after being expelled from Arakan (Myanmar) by the Mughals. Afterwards, it has become a tradition of digging Well in the neighborhoods of Rakhaine tribes for water. Kuakata offers a full view of the sunrise and sunset from the same white sandy beach in the water of the Bay of Bengal.

It has been a tough phase for me. I felt I was batting well in Australia but I was luckless. I was not thinking about the milestone. There was no talk about it when I scored the 99th but the media eventually made it a big thing. Everywhere I went (restaurants, hotels, room service, the ground) the talk was only about the 100th hundred. I decided to do what was best for the team, you know, put your head down and grind it out. I'm glad to have got it now. The ball was not coming on. I talked with Virat and we decided that 270-280 would be a good score. Virat who batted long in the previous game, said that this track is a little slower. The achievement has definitely not sunk in but I've lost about 50 kilos (laughs). Dreams do come true. I waited for 22 years to win the World Cup and so my advise to youngsters would be to chase their dreams.

Opened to the public on 6 August 2004, the mall is located at Panthapath, near Karwan Bazar, in Dhaka city. Bashundhara City is 21 stories tall, of which 8 are used for the mall and the remaining floors are used as the corporate headquarters of the Bashundhara Group. The mall has space for 2500 retail stores and cafeterias and also possesses a large underground gymnasium, a multiplex styled movie theater and top floor food court along with an indoor theme park. The fully air-conditioned shopping mall with rooftop gardens is considered a modern symbol of the emerging city of Dhaka. Up to 25000 people visit the mall daily, which is the first western style mall in the city, designed by the Principal Architect Mustapha Khalid Palash and Mohammad Foyez Ullah of Vistaara. The cost of the building is more than $100 million; construction started in 1998. The building has been described as an indication of the severe division between the middle class and the lower class. It is one of the showcases of the development in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the land of natural beauty and fertility attracts various people with numerous aims. While traveling towards the eastside of the country more specifically AliKadam, Lama of Bandarban district our eyes were overwhelmed by the beauty of the site as well as little disappointed with current environmental situation of the area. We were travelling through the uneven road on the traditional 'Chander Gari' and saw all the flat lands around the foot area of Mirinza hill, the land beside the road from lama to ali kadam; even in the playing ground of Modujhiri govt. primary school and as far as we can see the bank of Matamuhuri River were covered with tobacco farming. While talking to local people we come to know that the flat land where these farming is being practice was mostly government properties given to high government officials for farming of "Rubber" or "Horticulture" but there weren't any. So these lands are being subjected to a very interesting way of practicing farming by the middle man of that area. The local & multinational tobacco companies are providing money to the middle man for contract farming of tobacco to ensure the raw materials of their product. The middle man taking the money asks the marginal farmer to cultivate tobacco for them. But as marginal farmers do not have enough money to cultivate they lend money from the middle man with high interest. For example, if they take BDT 10000 for one tobacco season (6/7 month), they have to return 15000 ...
