Skipping Across Asia [02:34]
I hurled down through the atmosphere, landing in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Just in time for the camel market in Pushkar. After not finding anything in the colour I liked (blue), I headed east for a peek at the Taj Mahal. From there a great bound to Varanesi for a refreshing splash in the polluted Ganges. Then over for a quick stop in Dhaka, Bangladesh to checkout the organically propelled taxis. A hop over to Burma. First in Rangoon, a climb up to the Schwedagon Pagoda. With the glare off the gold and marble, you really need some shades. Then by train, I rolled north to the ancient city of Pagan, with its scattered temples and pagodas. Next, Bangkok, Thailand for three very uninspiring temple photos. With a sharp turn south via motor coach, I briefly visited the bustling hamlet of Singapore. The final stop was on Bali amongst the palms and the beach beyond, for body-surfing time, before leaping up into the stratosphere. The musical accompaniment is Jet Lag by Zazie.TECHNICAL NOTE: More images were captured in my mind's eye than with the camera. Unfortunately, I don't have a telepathy adapter for my scanner. Bicycle Rickshaw in Bangladesh [01:09]
Father Tom invited Shawn and me to the American club here in Bangladesh... The American club is basicly a country club. But because it's in Bangladesh it's like an oasis... I had beer and bacon and those two things are not easy to come by. It's located in Gulshan (a district in Dhaka) near the Embassy's so it's a weird experience going there... it's in a heavily fortified upscale area and entering it is like entering a dumbed down (security wise) version of an embassy. Bullet proof glass at the entry checkpoint... metal detectors... it has more security than the airport here in Dhaka... and that is not a joke... Touchdown at Dubai International Airport [01:00]
Video was taken during a holiday to Bangladesh in 2010. I like planes and aviation so I thought it would be a good idea to upload this.

Buriganga River Boat Ride (Sadarghat) Slideshow - Old Dhaka, Bangladesh [03:11]
This is a slideshow series from a Buriganga river boat ride I took near the Sadarghat in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. A trip to Old Dhaka is not complete without taking a boat ride down the Buriganga "Old Ganges" river in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Small crafts compete for space on the river front with enormous freighters and other large vessels. It makes for a fascinating dynamic. I took a humble row boat out on the waters near the Sadarghat. It at times was extremely scary as we got quite close to some very large ships. There are fatalities on this river from time to time. I was lucky to have a safe ride with the opportunity to do a lot of filming. nomadicsamuel.com The Buriganga is economically very important to Dhaka. Launches and Country Boats provide connection to the other parts of Bangladesh, a largely riverine country. When the Mughals made Dhaka their capital, in 1610, the banks of the Buriganga were already a prime location for trade. The river was also the city's main source of drinking water. Today, the Buriganga river is afflicted by the noisome problem of pollution. The chemical waste of mills and factories, home waste, medical waste, sewage, dead animals, plastics, and oil are some of the Buriganga's pollutants. The city of Dhaka discharges about 4500 tons of solid waste every day and most of it is released into the Buriganga.[citation needed] According to the Department of the Environment (DoE), 20000 tonnes of tannery waste, including some highly toxic materials, are ...
