Bougainvilleas are popular ornamental plants found in tropical moist regions and native to South American countries like Brazil, Peru and Argentina. However, bougainvilleas will thrive in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained and fertile. In India, it grows in tropical and sub tropical forests such as Sultanpur National park, Kanha National Park and Eravikulam National Park. It is also found in the North Eastern State of India. Bougainvilleas belong to the family Nyctaginaceae. They are a group of tropical and subtropical flowering shrubs and climbing vines. Bougainvilleas are often used as porch climbers and hedges. Its flower has a papery and delicate texture, and can easily lose its pedals during a severe wind. The other name for bougainvillea is paper flower. It has a popular woody scandent shrub and grows to the height of 10 -15 feet. The flowers varies from classic red, purple, orange, white, pink and cream, which bloom all year round. The history of Bougainvillea is quite interesting. It was named after Louis Antoine de Bougainville in 1768. Noted for being the first Frenchman to cross the Pacific, he was on a discovery voyage, which included royal botanist Philibert Commerson. Commerson is credited with discovering the plant in Brazil and then naming it after Bougainville. En el mes de febrero de 2012, con motivo del 40 aniversario del Art College fuimos invitados a participar en la exposición Lyrical Blend Bangladesh & Spain junto con el artista de Bangladesh Ahmed Nawaz. "Tengo la sensación que lo vivido no me cabe en los bolsillos, ni en la memoria de mi cámara, ni en el álbum del facebook, ni en las carpetas de los ordenadores que me han ido prestando durante todo este viaje, ni siquiera en la carpeta del escritorio de mi ordenador cuando llegue a España...El corazón fue el primero que me colgó el cartel de lleno y tuve que ir buscando a ver en qué otro lugar podría ir guardando...." Date taken: April 19, 2012 Camera used: SONY Camcorder DCR SX45E With temperature soaring to almost 42 degree, only an idiot like me will prefer to sit under the scorching sun for hours to do railfanning instead of sitting in the cosy sofas under the chilling ACs in our college's food court and having gala time with friends. Lalgola, a small town at 225 kms north of Kolkata is situated on the India-Bangladesh border. Though Lalgola does not have any railway connectivity with Bangladesh, but it is a terminal station which hauls more than a dozen of trains everyday. Only Gede and Bongaon (these two locations are also at border) have railway connectivity with Bangladesh, and the Kolkata Chitpur Terminal (KOAA)- Dhaka MAITREE International Express uses the Gede route to cross the border. Due to extreme rush, almost a dozen of passengers, and a couple of Express trains travel between Lalgola (LGL)- Murshidabad (MBB)- Berhampore Court (BPC) and Kolkata everyday. Earlier the route was complete ruled by alcos, but after electrification was done in 2004 (now doublification is going on), half of the trains were given electric locos on a permanent basis, but the remaining half are still hauled by alcos.. While the electric ones are hauled by ASN WAG-5 , the alcos are hauled by WDM-2/ 3A of HWH/ BWN. And the MEMU was recently introduced a couple of months ago.
