Bengali New Year (Bengali: নববর্ষ Nôbobôrsho) or Pôhela Boishakh (পহেলা বৈশাখ Pôhela Boishakh or পয়লা বৈশাখ Pôela Boishakh), occuring on 14th April, is the first day of the Bengali calendar, celebrated in both Bangladesh and Indian state of West Bengal, and in Bengali communities in the other Indian states like : Assam, Tripura ,Jharkhand and Odisha and all over India as well where the Bengali community arises . It coincides with the New Year's Days of numerous Southern Asian calendars. In Bengali, Pohela stands for 'first' and Baisakh is first month of Bengali calendar.[1] Pôhela Boishakh connects all ethnic Bengalis irrespective of religious and regional differences. In India, in West Bengal, Tripura and Assam, it is a public (state) holiday and is publicly celebrated in 14th of April every year (or as per the Hindu Bengali calender) . In Bangladesh, it is a national holiday celebrated around 14 April according to the official amended calendar designed by the Bangla Academy. The new archives was inaugurated on 14th march, 2012 financed by the DONER Ministry, Government of India. Kohima is the hilly capital of India's north eastern border state of Nagaland which shares its borders with Burma. It lies in Kohima District and is also one of the three Nagaland towns with Municipal council status along with Dimapur and Mokokchung. Kohima is the land of the Angami Naga tribe. The name, Kohima, was officially given by the British as they could not pronounce the Angami name Kewhima or Kewhira (Tenyidie for "the land where the flower Kewhi grows"). It is so called after the wild flowering plant Kewhi, found in the mountains. Earlier, Kohima was also known as Thigoma. Kohima is located south of Kohima District and has an average elevation of 1261 metres (4137 feet).The town of Kohima is located on the top of a high ridge and the town serpentines all along the top of the surrounding mountain ranges as is typical of most Naga settlements.
