The Buriganga river (literally ´Old´ Ganges River) is the lifeblood of Dhaka, Bangladesh. A trip to Dhaka is simply NOT complete without a visit to this special area where old meets new, massive competes with inferior & a theater of life & death is played out right before your eyes. You´ll be absolutely blown away by the coordinated circus of events that takes place in front of your eyes as you notice tiny vessels likely in use for decades (possibly even centuries) sharing the same waters with enormous monstrosities that literally plow over ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that might possibly get in the way. The locals are wonderfully cheerful as they wave to you while you gulp, sit back and try to take it all in from a small rowboat with a humble man paddling by your side.
