I have travelled three times to Bangladesh this year and have just returned back.
I want to say all three times returning back to UK I have had trouble or petty arguments with these Airports workers. The Dhaka workers are getting better whilst the Sylhet workers are getting worser.
So can anyone do something to stop this cos it is a big headache and a very big problem ?
The way I tackle them is buy giving them the TAKA just like every other Foreigners who enter Bangladesh.

Just forget the past and try to visit another country instead. Its all worth it at the end of the day. Anyway where abouts are u from Uk. I'm in the North. Been to Bangladesh. Airport could be better. Too much hassle and lairs about!!

I guess that that is something u cannot change unfortunately. "Ghush" is the main income of the ppl who live in Dhaka and work in the airports - otherwise their income is really pretty small. The best thing u can do is try to avoid confrontation. To be honest, there is nothing that we can really do on our own and so the best thing to do is make other ppl aware of it.

you must be joking there isn't another country in the like bangladesh. i've been there 4 times and am going this summer. i don't care what the airport workers do i'll still visit bangladesh when ever i get a chance

Hi, I have very strong views on this and have tried to tackle this with a multi-agency approach. We have involved MPs from this country and Bangladesh. We have spoken to Biman airlines and British Airways.

Gush is wrong as they are earning more than the MPs in Bangladesh do as they recive foreign notes which have high currency value.

We should be firm, say no, and walkaway or request the supervisors at airports.

I travel a bit and I have had problems in Dhaka mainly.

They see this as an easy way to become rich.

beacause they can earn more than MPs in Ghush, MPs are following suite to masintain their high standard of living.

HI,

I just have to jump in and say that I am one of those forgieners who DO NOT pay bribes!! I love BD and would visit every year if I had the $. The people are wonderful, the food great and the language is music to my ears. I miss living there. I am not Bangladeshi, I am Caucasian, American born who just happens to think BD is a great place to live. I lived in Dhaka ( NOT Gulshan either!!) for two years and Chittagong for a year. What great memories I have. Get away from the big city and enjoy life as it is meant to be inthe country side. There are problems in any countrythat you visit, but YOUR attitude will make the difference!
