Thumbs up

Biman Bangladesh airlines has issued a tender notice to lease 3 Boeing 777 aircraft to replace some of the current DC10's.

It is hoped to have some of the aircraft in service by December 2002. Biman is considering replacing the remaining DC10's by the middle of 2003.

Very Good

The News is good.

What's up with GMG? They got permission to fly Int'l routes from CTG.

Are they getting new aircraft too? What kind? You can't fly to Bangkok or Madras (Chennai) with a Dash-8.

GMG Fleet

The Q400 has capacity but maybe a little slow? Just under 360 knots cruise.

Also the range is 2500 km only.

If they wanted bombardier, they could have gone with the CRJ series which is far better in terms of ceiling. Q400 max flight ceiling is 20,000 ft.

At last. Those DC10's are in terrible state. Even if the 777's are second hand, I'm sure they'll be much better than the old DC10's. GMG hmmmm....flew once with the..CTG-Dhaka. Not much to say.
