Is there no Bangladeshi nationalist who could do this? Its almost hipocratic of me to give this slogan.

The series is over, we lost 2-0 and Pilot but we gained Manju/Sharif and regained opee/Rokon/Sumon and may be Moni to some extent.
I've just read you message regarding Moni. The poor guy is old but his service to Bangladesh is unquestionable. The only reason he made the team was because was by far the best spinner in the National league last season with 50 wicket. Sharif was second place with close to 40 wickets. While there is not much expectation on Moni because of his age, he will do us just fine till we find a suitable replacement. He only bowled in the Second test and was actually treated with respect by experts. Sharif started out with a bang but this is probably too much for his age (17/18 even though BCB would insist on 15). Funny thing is, he showed more maturity then Shanto who had a horrible first spell in the first test. In any case, with proper guidance Sharif will be a regular in our future teams. Off course, the biggest find is Manju. The Khulna captain and oft ignored pacer earned critical acclaim with his controlled and effective bowling. No one even expected him to become such a celebrity overnight. I guess you can blame the Dhaka/Local wickets for keeping him undergroudn for this long. We definitely need to improve our local wickets in order to give bowlers like manju some assistant. As it stands, even a mediocre player can hit fifties without much effort in our local cricket now. Was surprised to see the exclusion of Rafique from the squad. My personal view on this and then the pitch would suggest that his inclusion would have been a great boost to our bowling line up. The Harare pitch was friendly towards the spinners and that helped Moni/Durjoy of Bangladesh and Ray price of Zimbabwe to take some wicket. Off course Price was ably assisted by our over excited batsmen. Hope to see rafique back in action against Zimbabwe in November. More to come ... tehsin teststatus.com |
