Football has and will always be a major sport in Southern asian countries. The fact that Cricket is loved more in Bangladesh (due to the progression of the National team) is a big a thing in its own right, but I beleive that Football will still be the biggest sport in Bd. Apart from the likes of Mohammedon and Abuhani, other domestic teams are progressing... slowly.

That' a good thing. But I am afraid that one day cricket may take over. For earlier football was the most popular game in India, but now it is cricket.

I personally feel football is the best game to play and enjoy. And Bangaldesh should not go India's way.

Well with the size of the population they should also push to excel in all sports. Look at the UK. We have many top sports men in many different sports with an extremely small population compared to America. We are very competitive in cricket, golf, tennis, darts, snooker, athletics, boxing, table tennis, judo, karate, horse racing, motor racing, hockey, badminton, both rugby's and many other sports.

Bangladesh has twice the population of UK so surely they must be able to produce at least a handful of world class athletes. Look at Ethiopia they've spent a lot in the development of their top athletes and have produced the GREATEST athlete of all time in Haile Gebreselassie.

I very much agree with u , but sports is a means of entertainment for the south asian nations where as in developed nations people take it up as a profession.

Popularity of Footbal has gone down.

I remember those MSA - AKS rivalry days. Everyone used to wait for their game to be televised. Now they don't even show it on TV.

I pray that it remains a part of our sports spectrum.
If you look at India once soccer was mainly played in West Bengal, now it has moved all over India. The teams from the south are doing pretty well. We should probably try to decentralize our structure also.
