lol.... classic! aint it funny how you become karom champion of the kids and then one of the aunties or uncles comes and plays you, acting like theyve forgotten how to play the game cos its been such a long time.... then they beat you silly and shame you up in front of everyone.... they're pure hustlers .

we've got a board at home somewhere.... i saw the red guthi on the cellar floor the other day when i went to get the tool box.... maybe its time it had a revival?.... actually, on second thoughts, no.... i cant be arsed with having to clean all that damned boric powder out of the carpet afterwards.... even a dyson hoover doesnt have enough suction power to deal with that!

anyway, back to the topic at hand...

i love one day internationals (cricket).... faaaaar better than football, even to watch, cos it takes a lot more skill, a match can turn around many times in one game, and the fun lasts all day. theres nothing like it.

but if i had to choose between test cricket and football, id go for football.... test cricket is just too looooong (though pakistan's performance yesterday was quite amusing).....

i only like international sports..... national football and cricket are both pants

in cricket, you just run back and forth. in baseball, you gotta run around THREE bases that are quite spaced (tho it doesnt appear so on television).
in cricket, you can get 6 runs by hitting over a distance that is soooooooo much smaller than that of baseball.

the only thing I can give cricket is the fact that nobody wears gloves...

an expected response from an american (or canadian... same thing really - jus kiddin)

-no account for the fact the in cricket the ball bounces. contrary to lay beliefs this adds speed to the ball (yep travels faster on the ground than in the air) and unpredictability

esp when it comes to things such as spin, varying speed, swing

-the weather impacts upon a cricket game in more ways than "rain stopped play"!!! things like cloud cover affect

i think baseball is perfect for the Americas (continent). it's all about tw@ting the ball as hard as poss. thats it. just hack it.

whereas the rest of the world enjoy cricket cos it aint just about b0nking the ball as hard as poss... but about placing it in gaps, gentle flicks pass fielders

and patience!!!!! knowing when to hit and when to block etc

for us "finer ppl" , we enjoy these delicacies of life. Those in the Americas however prefer the more 'wham bam thankyou ma'am" type sports

lol

i hate playing cricket-probs the most boring game ive ever played-but then again mayb thats coz im crap at it. at skool, wen we play its always this 1 boy batting for like the hole lesson, i go 2 bat n im out str8 away. i got a 5 for my cricket assesment (thats bad btw) lol.

n wen i played in bd it was worse. so then i taught them how 2 play rounders.

out of cricket and football, football is deffo the best- no question abt it.

(BTW Star, it was us canadians that invented Basketball. And Hockey. And Lacrosse. )

Come on man.

In cricket the ball can kill you - the fastest balls in cricket are close to 100 miles per hour.

In baseball at best you swerve the ball a lil - in cricket you can get the ball to swing in the air - you can get it to seam (change direction after bouncing) - you can get it to spin both ways using the same action, then as the ball gets scuffed out, reverse swing can come into play..

as for batting - baseball seems to be just whacking the ball whereas in cricket, you can drive off the front or back foot, off side or onside, you can cut the ball, you can pull, hook, leg-glance

but i wouldn't recommend test-matches in general - but within each match there are a couple of sessions which are usually quite watchable..

one day games are also okay - but u really want an Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi crowd - because they're the only fans who know how to have fun

most of the things you guys (Khilari & Star) listed can be applied with baseball as well as cricket...for example:
knowing when to hit the ball, the different ways of pitching (fastball, curveball etc etc), and so forth...

the better thing about cricket is that its international. personally baseball doesnt appeal to me... nor does cricket...but Ill still watch both sports and Ive played both of them as well. baseball on a school team, cricket with some village people in Bangladesh. wait, off topic...annnywaaay, I know baseball better than I know cricket, and vice versa for you Europeans. but just try playing both sports (with a proper sized feild) and you'll see which is harder.

my gramma is obsessed with Baseball. Yes, my 4'9 GRANDMOTHER. you insult baseball, she'll yell youre ear off. heck, you insult her New York Yankee's and she'll make your life a living hell.

(BTW Khilari, you better be kidding...we aint nothing like our southern neighbors...nothing. )

Baseball rocks, esp since I used 2 play softball (a lol "softer" than baseball) in 6th n 7th grade (I rock at batting!) I'm glad that my hometown has got a really great player that could've chosen any team he wanted
(he came for the city not for the money *suprise* *suprise*)
U guyz musta heard abt the record that the Detroit Tigers (also my fav animals - which is why I love the big tiger statues at comerica park) used to hold prior to this year... losin no matter wat...
but now with Alex Rodriguez (in the American League - not International) we stand 3rd in Central
with 7 wins n 5 losses!!!
Wooohooooooooooooo
