Question

I don't get it. Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and any other desi country doesn't even exist in football (well they do, but they're hardly talked about).

Most asian people that I come across support teams like France, Brazil, Italy etc.

Being a british asian of Bengali parents, I support England in football. Simple.
In cricket, I support both England and Bangladesh and if Bangladesh played footie den id support dem too.

I am proper passionate about England when they play football and get real upset when they get knocked out of a tournament (not quite so much in cricket tho).

If you're born in England, raised in england, got educated in england, your nationality says 'British', then why the hell are you supporting teams like Italy or Brazil if you got no connections with them?
Its ok to 'like' teams like Italy, Brazil etc, but when its tournament time and we're all playing agaisnt each other, then who you gonna support? ENGLAND of course!!!

Some of you say that you don't support England because they're ****. That's the stupidest reason. People who say that are just glory supporters.
Bangladesh ain't doing too well in cricket nowdays, but you ain't gonna see me supporting some next team like Australia just because Bangladesh aren't playing good. I'll be supporting Bangladesh and England no matter what.

I bet if there were a few asian players playing for england then people wood change their mind.

If brazil, Italy or France played England and lost to them, plenty of people would suddenly support England. It's just glory hunters supporting those teams who are favourites to win.....remember back to the World Cup last year, when South Korea beat Italy, everybody started liking them. I have to say I did before, but I didn't suport them, I respected how far they had come from their low rating.....

.....in sports, patriotism plays a high part, I am English and would support them even if they were the worst team in the world. I don't watch rugby, but used to play it, and I watched the final because it was England, so I agree.

However, if you are not patriotic in sport, you aren't really a fan.....so don't worry, the people who really make a difference to it support as they should

i dont support england in football because:

1.growing up in an english area i was always told to go back to my home country, had racial abuse and fights with white ppl who were racist. My dad was hospitalised by white youths and the police did everything to protect the white youths!!!

2.always told by white ppl that "pakis cant play football"they would always try to put me in goal even when i was better than them !!!

3.during european championships in holland english fans were singing "id rather be a paki than a turk"

anyone have similar experience?

these days you'll find that it is hardly white people that are protected. Also, we're not talkin about FANS, we're talkin about the team, which the last time I chacked was multiracial. Sorry to hear bout your Dad, but not everybody is racist....if you hold it against everyone thats white, YOU are the racist.

If you're Bengali then the 'Paki' term does not apply to you anyway....

then eventually they will get whats coming to them

anyone have similar experience?
Yes, but I'm white and got it from a bunch of Indians in Southall (My Own Home Country). But I didn't hold it against every Asian I met.....I got some friends to have a quiet word with them.....

Hi,

i didnt say all white ppl r racist..i always judge ppl for who they are!!!so dont accuse of being racist if u dont even know me!!

as for white ppl being underprotected maybe u didnt watch that BBC documentary on those policemen who were racist!!this documentary wasnt a shock to me!!!

my dads attack was a racial attack!!!the policeman even said that the youths who did it were good boys!!!we complained to Police complaints authority about this particular policeman and they just said he was a good officer-basically protecting the officer!!

also most of the white ppl in my school frequently used the word "paki" even when they knew i was bangladeshi!!

Its not easy to trust english ppl when u have these experiences..racial abuse was a part of growing up!!!

but there are decent white ppl that i respect
and theres bad ppl in all races (i have had black ppl trying to attack me on the streets !!)even in my own race!!!

Anyway i dont even really follow football!!sport is lame i prefer martial arts and my instructor is white and the white ppl i train with i get along with very well!!!
