who do you think will win the premiership this year?
Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City Birmingham City
And I'll delete the post of anyone who says different. ![]() Abramovitch doesn't mean anything. Money doesn't buy the Championship. Only class matters.

birmingham city? lol
theres a nice spot for them, its called number 14 in the premiership dont you think brum city will be battling relegation again? abromavic, money does buy class, i think its more a case of if the players gel toghether well and play as a team cause individual class can only take you so far but then the team falls apart at the seams

Realistically, I think Birmingham would be pleased to finish mid table (above Aston Villa of course) . I honestly don’t believe we will be relegation candidates this year. We have experience which the newer clubs lack. Hopefully a good start to the season, like last year, will see us through.Steve Bruce has strengthened the squad and we are particularly strong in midfield, with the addition of David Dunn to old hands like Christoffe Dugay and Robbie Savage. We also seem to be on the lookout for Metz midfielder Gregory Proment. I think that Mr Abramovitche’s sudden appearance onto the scene serves only as a sensationalist distraction. Chelsea are simply not an A1 outfit of the calibre of Arsenal, Man U and Real Madrid. Sir Jack Walker also attempted to make Blackburn Rover’s the premier powerhouse of English football by spending hundreds of millions of pounds. Yet apart from one fluky title, where are Blackburn today? Mr Fayed and Fulham are another case in point. Building a great club requires diligent and often unsung effort over a decade. To build up a capable squad via eg. youth schemes and judicious transfer activity. Remember Snoop, Sir Alex Furgeson, did not enjoy immediate success with Man Utd, in fact at one point the board wanted to sack him! A sensationalist money spender does not enjoy the luxury of time. He needs immediate success to justify his investment. He always in need of doing something big. So expect a high-turnover of managers and players and a couple of mickey-mouse cups erm...sorry I meant league and FA cup's, to show for his efforts.

In the case of blackburn and chelsea - certainly in the early days - they could only get professionals in the latter years of their career... they weren't the best players out there... they came because the pay package was good.
Although the result wasn't so bad in chelsea's case, and they've backed it up by getting some younger players in now. However much money they have, clubs like blackburn (and less so these days in chelsea's case) would not attract the best players in the world.. Man U will, Arsenal will, Liverpool will, just about - and maybe Newcastle. If they really wanted to - i think those clubs could buy themselves into having a decent stab at the big prizes - although given the current financial situation, even they are scared to part with their money. The classic example is Real Madrid - they've bought Ronaldo, Beckham, Figo, Zidane, (prob Carlos at some stage, maybe their goalie? not sure) - if you have that enough money, or a bank manager who's scared of you (as in real madrid's case) - you could buy yourself a world-class money

chelsea have to win something this year otherwise its gonna be a flop of a season, i know it takes time to build a good succesful team and to win major titles but with all the hype surrounding them if they dont win a major title this year then its a flop of a season.
the worthington cup and the f-a cup have significance for the big clubs if its won as part of a double, treble its true great players in a team cant bring immediate success, real madrid last year nearly lost it all, it was towards the end they took a grip on there spanish title..before that it could have been real sociedads..but realmadrid want the champions league..and they didnt get that. chelsea cant win the champions league this year, well i hope not, they could maybe win the league? and im slowly losing faith that arsenal will win any major titles this year either. whatever happens, it should be a exciting season, national league wise and european cup wise.

Quote:
If Chelsea get Viera (unlikely but not def. ruled out yet and a good way of scaring Arsenal supporters ), arsenal and chelsea's fortunes this season, could well be settled.
