defintion

as salamulaikum

the post of the thread is abt Terrorism.. ..so I though I better find out the defination of terrorism first…. Below is what I have found out: (rerence: http://www.terrorism.com/terrorism/def.shtml

Terrorism by nature is difficult to define.
Acts of terrorism conjure emotional responses in the victims (those hurt by the violence and those affected by the fear) as well as in the practioners. Even the U.S. government cannot agree on one single definition.
The old adage, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" is still alive and well.

Terrorism is the use or threatened use of force designed to bring about political change.
--Brian Jenkins

Terrorism consitutes the illegitimate use of force to achieve a political objective when innocent people are targeted. --Walter Laqueur

Terrorism is the premeditated, deliberate, systematic murder, mayhem, and threatening of the innocent to create fear and intimidation in order to gain a political or tactical advantage, usually to influence an audience.-- James M. Poland

Terrorism is the unlawful use or threat of violence against persons or property to further political or social objectives. It is usually intended to intimidate or coerce a government, individuals or groups, or to modify their behavior or politics.--Vice-President's Task Force, 1986

Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives. --FBI Definition

Btw I could not find any Islamic definaiton of terrisam…

If a terism is a bad thing (referign to the some of the defianiton above) and I donot think it’s a nice thing or it would be part of islam either…. Its actually opposes the teaching of islam i.e peace…
and I realise that often media refer terrorism as Muslim defending their right or things like that ..it does not mean we became a terriost and we have to adore it…….
Just cos ppl look at us wearing red spectacles and looking at Muslim as if they r ppl in red that does not mean we all now have to start wearing red clothes……. And defend the right of terrorism……

Islam means peace, but we can't always have peace in this world, some people have their basic human rights taken away. If they refuse to fight the oppressor (either by direct force or indirect means) the situation only becomes worse.

At the end of the day this is just playing with words and the word "terrorism" is mainly used for propaganda. For example, jewish settlers took the land of the Arabs by force and are continually oppressing the Palistinian people. When the Palistinians try to fight against the soldiers they are labelled terrorists by Israel. Personally, I think in most situations it is clear who is a terrorist and who is a freedom fighter, but people will always try to spread false information so that they can justify killing and oppressing others. With the Israel situation we just have to look at the statistics - number of Israelis verses number of Palistinians killed to see who is the real "terrorist".

BTW I'm not suggesting that there are no Muslim terrorists in the world - but real Muslim terrorists often kill more Muslims then non-Muslims. They may have a beard and look Islamic but they fight only for their own desires.

Wassalaam,
Muhammad

well said!

i think theres a distrinction between defend and attack.. its a human natural right to defend himself out of oppreession and worngness.... and refering this as terrosism 'd be as abusing the ord itself.
again repeating myself.. just cos isralei lebels the palistein as terrosit does not mean they becoem terrorist.
