The feeling of death

Salaam everyone,
I’m requesting some feedback for my question from some of the Muslims on this site.
When I was young, my mother told me that after death, the person still feels and hears everything until the person is buried which must be within 24 hours. In his/her burial, an angel will come and ask him/her of Allah. I’m not too clear on this issue, can someone give me some feedback on it or at least what you think?
