The United Nations - Mouthpiece of United States

The Gulf crisis has highlighted the United Nations as being nothing but a stooge for the United States. Mr. Bush's National Security Adviser, former Air Force General Brent Scowcroft said that we were witnessing "The emergence of a new order. What we are seeing is the UN beginning to operate as it was foreseen ... when it was established in 1945-46." As Martin Walker said in the Guardian (1/9/90), "Mr. Scowcroft means that the UN is now operating as the US wishes." For the first time in its history, the UN has given its authority to military action without the UN being in command. The UN umbrella now flouts over the US navy as it enforces naval sanctions against Iraq. The UN clearly and, as usual, offers no visible restraint against the White House. The United Nations is a pillar of the Kufr US which legitimizes International terrorism. The citing of Article 51 of the UN charter, which gives its members the right of individual and collective self-defense, is used by the US to justify its invasion of Islamic land in the wake of the Gulf crisis. In reality the UN is a body created by the US for the propagation of its own foreign policy. Hence it is not surprising that in 1989 70% of the UN resolutions passed agreed with the official US foreign policy.

The so called trade blockade by the UN against Iraq not only reveals the incompetence of this sick organization trying to police the world, but it also brings home the fact that it is part of an effort to consolidate the founder members supremacy over other nations. Consider for a moment the five permanent members of the UN (US, USSR, BRITAIN, FRANCE and CHINA). Should these nations look after the affairs of the Muslims? Why are the Muslims treated as second class citizens of this so called 'united' world and who has given these few countries the right to set the world moral standards based on their Kufr concepts?

If the UN does not have double standards then where were the sanctions against Israel for its occupation of Lebanon in 1982? Where are the sanctions against the US for violating the sovereign state of Panama and kidnapping its head of state because he fell out of favor with the USA. And where are the sanctions against India for its occupation of Kashmir? Did the UN apply sanctions against the US, Britain, France and the USSR from supplying weapons to Iraq and Iran during the decade of bloody conflict, which claimed over a million Muslim lives? None of these sanctions were imposed simply because they were not in the West's interest.

We must wake up to the reality that the UN is not going to provide any solutions for us. Only Allah (swt) who created us and to whom we will return has solutions to all our problems. And it is sinful for Muslims to judge their affairs with Kufr solutions, because the Qur'an instructs us:

"So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their low desires, and beware of them, lest they seduce you from just a part of what Allah has revealed to you." [TMQ 5:51]

So the Muslims must refer to the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) for their guidance and not the man-made UN, which is run on Kufr principles. And we should be so acutely wary of their seductive UN resolutions and fancy talk. Enough of UN resolutions, US resolutions and other false East or West resolutions. Its about time that we had the Islamic resolution according to what Allah (swt) has revealed to us. That means the complete expulsion of foreign influence from our lands; be it Jews in Israel, Hindus in India, Communists in Afghanistan or the US in the Gulf.

bismil rabil noor,
assalamu alaikum,
while your comments on UN are true but to say that it is harm tobe part of UN is not correct. I do not know which mujtahid has issued this fatwa.
being present in the UN is not the same as endorsing the action of UN. nor is it accepting UN authority. UN authority is forced upon us like it or not and being present is only to havea voice, which from time to time can act as a platform for da'wa(giving islamic viewpoint).
Imam khomeini's view(fatwa) on the issue was that we must participate and use any platform that we can to present the islamic viewpoint. it was never intended to rely on UN to solve problems. in practice we saw the growth of hizbullah under his guidance, against UN's will.
I do not know any living alem with more authority than imam khomeini nor with more sincerity to islam and nor with a better track record of serving islam.
the only group, without an alem, that i have ever heard to make joining UN as haram is hizbur tahrir. his is not the only wrong fatwa issued by a non mujtahid led group. hizbur tahrir is also against the uprising of palestinians. according to hizbur tahrir, the palesteninans shuld wait for a khalif who will then declare a jehad against israel and any action prior to that is not jehad.
during the bosnian war they gave a similar fatwa(again without an alem) that muslims should not go and fight the serbs because that decree could only come from a khalif.
ironically, many of those issuing these fatwas were living on money social security and never discussed the issue that a kufr govenrment has no authority to take or give peoples money to anyone. this is wthin the authority of a khalif. therefore, money earned in this way is haram.
i wil be grateful, if anyone could give a sound islamic reasoning or basis to say that joining UN is haram.
wasalam,
mahdi

It is a valid point raised by Mahdi, Showkot and others alike please back your 'Fatwa' on 'Dalil' that you always go on about?
And also, according your 'fatwas' is'nt it haram for you to live in a Kuffar Country who is also a Permanent member of the UN and at the same time enjoiying all the material benefits (as mahdi pointed out) that is on offer regardless of it being Halal or Haram?
