Colonization of the Muslim lands by the west was an important means via which the Kufr were able to divide the Muslims through the creation of numerous nation states. This process of divide and rule continues to this day through other means such as the United Nations. As a consequence of their actions, the Muslims are now divided into over 56 different nation states - and this number continues to increase. Recent examples of dividing Muslim lands, to carve out new nation states, include the case of Indonesia (East Timor) and Somalia (the attempt to set up Somaliland).
The western nations are once again using the UN to create another nation state, this time in North Africa. United Nation mediator James Baker, the former United States secretary, will oversee talks between Morocco and the Polisario Front this week in Berlin. When the Spanish colonialists left Western Sahara in 1976, Morocco moved in and made it part of its territory. Since Morocco is not an ideological nation, and as it is not ruled according to the Islam, it faces countless problems similar to those faced by other countries of the Islamic world. Consequently, all people residing in Morocco, irrespective of whether they are from Western Sahara or the Mediterranean coast, face diverse problems. The state of Morocco is ideologically bankrupt, and is not able to even provide the basic needs of its citizens. Sadly, some react to these problems incorrectly and attempt to provide solutions without referring to Islam. Thus, the Polisario Front, see the solution to the problems is to divide Morocco and create a new state in Western Sahara. This so called "solution" creates borders between Muslims, which is clearly haram according to Islam. Instead of such shallow solutions, Islam calls Muslims to solve their problems according to the commands of Allah, which demands the unification of Islamic land into one state, the Khilafah.
The Muslims of Morocco and Western Sahara have to be cautious about the plans of the Kufr. In the past, Muslim nations have been divided, and new nations created on the pretext that this would solve the problems of the people. However, a survey of such efforts will reveal that this is far from the truth. Pakistan was divided to form Bangladesh, and what change for the good did this bring? The only change that the people have experienced is that one group of leaders have been replaced by another, but everything else has remained the same - the suffering of the people continues and their problems multiply. Similarly, creating a new state in Western Sahara will be no better. It will merely result in the replacement of one incompetent leadership (the Moroccan regime) by another equally incompetent leadership (The Polisario Front).
The western powers have always worked hard to sow division amongst the Muslims by encouraging and financing nationalism and separatism. They use the United Nation to give legitimacy to such division of Muslim lands. For example, it is the UN, which called for a referendum to decide whether the Muslim land of Western Sahara should be incorporated into Morocco or become independent. The real reasons behind the involvement of the UN, the US and Europe, in this conflict, is their common desire to weaken the Muslims by creating division amongst them so that they can exploit their resources and, more importantly, prevent the emergence of the Islamic state. Such interference in the affairs of Muslim people, in order to weaken them, is only possible due to the co-operation and collusion of the current Muslim rulers. These rulers and the west work, hand in hand, to harm the interests of the Muslims. The Muslim Ummah should be vigilant of their hostile actions. Rather than dividing the Muslim lands, the Muslims of Western Sahara, Somaliland, Kurdistan and elsewhere should work to unify the Muslim countries through the re-establishment of the Islamic state, the Khilafah. It is the re-establishment of the Khilafah, not the creation of secular nation states, which will remove injustice and suffering of all people, Muslims and non-Muslim alike.
