SURAH 103: AL-ASR [THE TIME]
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful By Al-Asr (the time). Verily, man is in Loss, Except those who Believe and do Righteous Good Deeds, and recommend one another to the Truth [ie order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (al-Marouf) which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (al-Munkar) which Allah has forbidden], and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His Deen of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad). We don't value the importance of time. We usually go about in our daily lives, relaxing, taking things easy like we will be here forever. We take our existence in this world very lightly. We plan out things eg, I will do dawah tomorrow, or read Tuhujjud and do voluntary fasts in a few months time, or i will commit myself to memorising and understanding the Quran next year, go hajj soon etc. The least of our concerns is DEATH - the ultimate Reality. We got to bare in mind that our time in this world is limited and we will die one day and that day could be today. We must realise how precious time is, we musn't waste it on fruitless activities because our Akhirah depends on our actions because every moment which passes by will never return. We must strive to make the most of our time in terms of seeking the pleasure of Allah swt by obeying and implementing His laws. As the Scholars put it, 'Wasting time is the seed of failure and regret, and being careful with time is the fruit of success and joy (in this dunya and in the Akhirah) |
