Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters

Pity, the westerners feel Muslim women come from repressive cultures. They feel sorry for us, or even disdainful because we submitted to such humility. They fail to reflect on the possibility that the lifestyle we have developed is something they can learn from.

Let me use the wearing of Hijab as an example. It keeps us from worrying about our body image the way Western women do, hence we suffer less from eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia.
We cover our bodies to keep men from having impure thoughts. However, this form of dress effects how women think of each other as much as it effects the men around us. From beauty contests for five-year-olds to sexual intrigues in the office, many Western women learn to use their apprearance to compete with other women for mates, jobs, and money. I think females at school and in the work place can be more supportive of each other if they are not comparing hips, waistline, and face it chest size as necessary equipment for getting ahead. We are more willing to praise a female colleague or be sympathetic to a coworker's personal problems than at least some Western women, who are often afraid that a fading appearance may interfere with the climb to success.

tsk tsk tsk, when will we learn

Dear mystique:
Forgive me if I don't participate more often cause I am fighting another war with the ennemies of ALLAH(which are also my ennemies). They are trying their best to creat FITNA in other Islamic sites, and Alhamdoulillah,I am pleased that in this one, most of our Muslim brothers are doing their best in chasing those low lives and they are doing an excellent job.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and god bless you all.

Assalam alikoum.
