There is not a singleplace where
wine made of grapes has been forbidden. Wine made of date (khammer)has been forbidden. You can drink wine as medicine in moderation.

As medicine wine (anything) is allowed. However, it not allowed as a pleasure drink. That is true.If you are starving to death you can also eat pork to save your life. But these facilities in Islam should not be exploited for pleasure. These things are decided by Ajmah or Qias.

Hi,

Please can you not simplify the scholarly opinions into one or two paragraphs.

Some people say brandy is good for caugh. Should we then regard it as halal because it is medication? I suggest you advise people to avoid drinking alcohol altogether. If anyone thinks alcohol is the only way to survive a serious illness, then perhaps it may be taken, but they should still consider obtaining an opinion from a renowned scholar for clarity on the nature of the health condition.

Alcohol is not just made of grapes and dates. In Bdesh rice is often used to make cheap stuff - sad, a lot of them died recently - but that doesn't mean they can drink it because it is not made of dates; dates don't grow in Bangladesh.

The substance, alcohol, meaning drink that has undergone the chemical process of fermentation, was forbidden in three different stages, and it is not something that we could allow in one simple paragraph. Perhaps you ought to clarify yourself on what you meant when you said it can be taken as medication - what kind of illnesses would require alcohol for sure. A lot of syrups for non-serious illnesses contain different forms of alcohol (caugh linctus?) but does that mean it should be taken or it shouldn't be taken. I think people should learn to consult Islamist scholars who have medical knowledge on matters that concern the consumption of medicine that may contain alcohol, rather than stay in doubt, or to take non-scholarly opinion and not have any doubts at all when consuming such medicine. We Muslims very often insult scholars but fail to consult them on matters that concern us, and it's abot time we learn to seek advice from them more often. That is the best and true method of showing reverence to knowledge in Islam. Thanks for your comments!

Wais

Butterfly ..
You have yet again made another Islamic comment without referring to a proper hadith.
Usage of alcohol in medicine is haram (If taken internally)

Islam has made certain foods & drink unlawful primarily on the basis of the effects that these create on the spiritual & moral health.

Wail al-hadrami (RA) reported that Tarig ibn -SW-Waid Ai Jufi asked the holy prophet(s) about liquor, he forbade (its usage) and he expressed hatred that it should not be prepared
Tarig said: I prepared it as a medicine, where upon the holy prophet said: it is no medicine.but an ailment. (Muslim)

Jabir (RA) reported that Apostle of Allah (SWT) said: what intoxicates on grater quantity is unlawful also in small quantity (Tirmidh,Adu-dawd- Ibn-maja)

Abu Dar (RA) reported that the holy prophet (S) said: verily Allah sent down ailment & cure there of. So he made cure, but seek not cure by unlawful things. (Abu dawed)

Ibn Umar (RA) reported that the messenger of Allah (SWT) said: every intoxicant is khamr & every intoxicant is forbidden.

The above hadith mentioned are enough testaments to prove that every intoxicant
Is Khamr and every khamr is haram.

If the large quantity of thing cause intoxication its small quantity even if it dose not provoke intoxication, is also haram.
Thus everything which causes intoxication is unlawful.

So next time Butterfly please do not make a statement on Islam if you are not shore!

May Allah safeguard us against the blind pursuit of evil & against the mischievous Satan.
Amen…

From the student of life the Oshik-kitoe
