I have heard a lot of "kaath mollas" saying you can't pray if you have nailpolish on.
I mean really, can nailpolish do such harm that our prayers will be unanswered by Allah? Let's hear some pros and cons on this issue. |

hi fary
nice seeing u r back! i have heared of it too. and the reason behind it is ur "wazoo" cannot be completed if u are wearing nailpolish coz water cannot reach through the nailpolish and ur hands or nails remains uncleaned as aresult of that. which should be thoroughly cleaned. bestwishes butterfly |

thts a nice idea though. but the point is here to keep our body and mind pure and clean. we could be a sinner by our thought. and the purpose of wajoo is not only cleaning the body ,mind as well. so its about purifying urself more than cleaning urself.

Hi people, what is the reason for wearing nailpolish in the first place. What are the active ingredients in Nail polish?
You need to answer these bsic but fundamental questions in seeking your answers as you will find that nailpolish is not used for protecting the nails but for improving the looks. A lot of brands of nail polish use ingredients that are considered haram. If you are a pratising person then you should be able to abide by not wearing nail polish in the first place. aa |

Salaam all,
I'd like to make an important point here! Many people reject Islam because they disagree with certain rules. This is a wrong attitude to have. Let me illustrate why: In both the Quran and the Bible the following story is related about Ibrahim (PBUH). God orders Ibrahim to slaughter his son and he is about to do so when the Devil disguised as an old man tries to put him off. But Ibrahim has strong faith and continues with the preparation of the slaughter. However just as he's about to do it Allah orders him to slaughter ananimal instead! Now there are many rules in Islam for which we are incapable of giving an exact reason for and it is almost impossible to prove with certainty that a certain rule is right. For example, we cannot logically prove that it is a good thing that we are allowed to marry 4 women - we do so because we beleive that the Quran is the literal Word of Allah and anyhthing contained in it is true by definition. So if the rule was the other way round then we would be giving explanations as to why it is a good thing that women are allowed to marry 4 men! The point is that for muslims the first reason for any particular rule, is that Allah allows or disallows it. So we cannot eat pork primarily because Allah orders us not to. But all the rules in the the Quran are for mans benefit so there must be a reason for we cannot eat pork - so we can do research into it and try and find reasons. But it is important to remember that the fact that Allah orders something is in itself the best reason for doing or not doing something! About the nailpolish - or about anything we're confused about - the first thing to do is decide whether or not it is actually forbidden in Islam. If it is forbidden it is not for us to say that it can't have any affect on the prayers - we have to change for Allah and for Islam - Islam should not have to change to accommodate our own desires and personal beleifs, based on our own thought! Like Ibrahim, we must not question why Allah orders us to do something and reject it if we find no reason - asking for the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding on the other hand is a good thing! |

Nur,
Qur'an told a lie about prophet Ibrahim, he did not sacrifice Ishmael but Isaac and no the devil did not disguise himself because that is the made up account of Qur'an by prophet Muhammad not the Torah as you incorrectly state. Here is the real account from the Torah... Genesis 22:1-13 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about." Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you." Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together. When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son." Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram [1] caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. May you come to know the true God who loves you. bornagain |
