Enhancements of ideas in Quranic Islam
God spoke with man kind in every age with every nation. And every religion prescribed by God in all ages and for all nations was based on total submission to God alone and on proper relations among individuals and communities.
A) Submission to God alone means taking God as the only aim and aspiration of life, standing firm against all odds, evils, losses and sufferings with trust in God, remaining grateful and happy with God both in good times and in bad times. B) Proper relations with others means being good, polite and helping to others, being forgiving, just and fair to others, taking a line of actions to payback all natural debts to others (example: parents), and keeping all agreements (example: oaths, promises, business contracts, marriage agreements, international agreements) with others. Islam of Muhammad is also based on the same principles. And hence there are possibilities to find similarities between other religions and Islam. But what I intend here is to point out some big enhancements in ideas in Quranic Islam. 1. Previous religions saw the universe as a creation of God and mankind as a part of the universe. But in the Quran, God mentions that He created the universe for mankind, and every individual human being is a vicegerent (viceroy, deputy) of God. This idea puts human being in the highest possible rank of honor and responsibility, and scope of greatest possible height of evolution of spirit. 2. Jews see God as their God in somewhat tribal sense. Muslims see God as the Lord of the worlds. 3. Christians see humans as sinners. God, In the Koran, says that He honored the Children of Adam and created them in the best of forms. 4. The Hindus see humans as the children of joy. Islam sees humans as the vicegerent of God, the Sustainer and the Evolver (Rab). 5. The Hindus aim for a joyful life through establishing a sound relation with the universe. Muslims aim for a heroic life full of both joy and sufferings through constructing himself and engaging with the universe in a manner to evolve his spirit and the universe to fulfill the plan of God, the Evolver (Rab). 6. The Buddhists say that where there is life there is sufferings and aim at taking up a life-code to escape sufferings. God in the Quran asks humans not be intimidated by the sufferings and to face it like heroes. I think it is more a correct attitude to look for similarities between the Quranic ideas and the ideas of western renaissances.
