Blessings of Ramadan

The blessings of Ramadan

Indeed the blessed month of ramadan is upon us, the month of mercy, the month of forgiveness, the month to save us from the hellfire.

Allah(swt) says in the quran “Fasting has been proscribed upon you as it was proscribed on those before you so that you may attain taqwa”(2:183)

One of the main objectives of ramadan that is not understood by the masses is that Allah (swt) proscribed this month of fasting upon us for the purpose of attaining taqwa. Taqwa is an Arabic word which comprises of many meanings, among them is that it means the fear of allah(swt) and staying away from the prohibitions of allah and fulfilling the obligations set by him.

Thereby if you pass Ramadan without increasing in these aspects then know you have not benefited from the fasting.

One of the common understanding that the muslims have is that fasting only comprises of abstaining from food and drink. Forgetting that lying, backchating and passing news from place to place(al nameema) will nullify our fasts.

Narrated by Abu Huraira that the Messenger Muhammed(saw) said: Whoever does not give up lying speech(false statements) and acting on those lies and evil actions etc. Allah is not in need of his leaving food and drink. (Bukhari)

Ibn hajr explains this hadith in fath al bari as: Allah will not accept this persons fast.

Narrated by Abu huraira that the messenger Muhammed(saw) said: How many people fast but they get nothing but hunger and thrist. (Ibn Majah, Ahmad, Baihaqi)

We can understand from the above ahadith that a person can be fasting without to receive any reward in the hereafter. Further more they are missing a month of great virtues and opportunity that they may never reach again.

Narrated by Abu huraira that the messenger Muhammed said: If the month of Ramadan arrives, the gates of paradise will be opened, the gates of hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.

The prophet(saw) used to address the sahaba near the end of Shaban and instruct them on how to benefit from the month.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Omar that the messenger of Allah(saw) said on the last days of Shaban: O people what comes near you is the month of Ramadan, the month of Allah, this month in the eyes of Allah is the best month and its days are the best days and its nights are the best nights. This month you are invited to be the guest of Allah and you are going to be near the people of Karamah (ie people of honour). Your breathing in these days will be tasbih, your sleeping is an act of worship. Your deeds will be accepted and all your dua will be accepted. Ask Allah with good intention. Ask Allah to make you fast(properly) and recite the quran. Whenever you are hungry or thirsty, remember the hunger and thirst of the day of judgement. Donate to the poor and needy people. Be kind to your young and respect the elders. Watch your tongue. Do not look at anything prohibited or listen to anything prohibited. Be kind to the orphans and Allah will be kind to your orphans in the future. Ask Allah to forgive you and raise your hands in salah. O people your nafs is hostage to your actions, so release it with istigfar and your back is heavy with sin, so release it with long sujud. Allah has sworn by his dignity that those who used to fast properly, they will be those who Allah(swt) will not punish in the hellfire. May Allah forgive me and forgive you.
We should take heed from the advice of rasoulullah(saw) and do what he recommended and we must not forget our obligations of jihad, dawah to society, and commanding good and forbidding evil and not to forget to make dua for all of the muslims in captivity and the oppressed muslims all around the world.

Iftar in the Ramadan Mubarak

blessings-ramadan-royal.jpg
The holy month of Ramazan is back again in the Muslim world. Bangladesh with its large Muslim population observes Ramazan with great piety and fervour. The daylong fasting ends at sunset and the faithful break their fasting with the delicacies of IFTARI. Dhaka , particularly its densely populated older section bustles and buzzes with the rush home and the selling and buying of Iftari items as the time for Iftar draws near. Almost every restaurant of the city, from the 5-star hotels to local outlets prepares their traditional and special Iftari items. Iftari items displayed on open-air stalls and tables with the adjacent gas burner or the stove frying Iftar items on large pans, some other in syrupy liquid and sizzling the other Iftaris over red-hot charcoal fire becomes the Ramazan image of Dhaka..MORE DETAILS..
