After the attacks on 9/11 and the weeks leading to the invasion of Afghanistan, I'd heard on numerous occasions from guys who claimed to have met omar that he was the Ameer-ul-Mu‘mineen, the leader of the Muslims. They spoke very highly of him and had many stories of his courage, humbleness and total submission to Allah.

They spoke of omar as the defender of faith and the protector of Muslims. So when the U.S started their invasion, what did this leader of the Muslims, defender of faith, protector of Islam do?

He got onto his donkey and ran away!

In Islam running away from the battle field and abandoning your fellow Muslim brothers is a serious sin. But omar wasn’t just a normal soldier, he was the leader of an army and deserted them, he let them and the people of Afghanistan down. All the big talk before the war, but when it came to the crunch, what did he do? He got scared of B52 bombers. Isn't the wrath of Allah a greater threat?

Who was he protecting? That scumbag bin laden. Was he really worth the lives of the innocent Afghanistani people who died?

Well the only word for omar I can think of is a “munafeeq”, (hypocrite). If he loved Islam half as much as I do my own country, then he wouldn’t have ran.

For leading Afghanistan to war and abandoning his position, I think omar more than qualifies to be called a “munafeeq”.
