Gandhi obviously wasn't 100% enamoured with Islam - otherwise he would've converted - I'm sure he had problems with the Faith - BUT that does not change the fact he said the above...

Our discussions on this forum would appear to be heading up a dead-end: you'll keep on rejecting anything i post about Islam - just as I'll keep on rejecting anything you post about Islam.
>> Star, just because a person praises another religion, text, or prophet, and doesnt convert to that religion, does not necessarily mean that they have 'problems' or 'issues' with that religion. Gandhi was more than satisfied with Hinduism, because, in his heart he knew that it was the truth. Why then, should he feel the need to leave himself behind and change into 'a new pair of clothes' just because he said 'it looks good'? Praise and belief are two very different things.

Gandhi lived and died a Hindu (Eesh-kripa). He was learned enough to know the greatness and depth of Hindu dharma.

Maybe he said nice things just to keep the people of India united it times of hardship? Who knows.

(Yajur Veda XXXI-181).

"In the beginning all this was covered over by darkness, unknowable, indefinable, unarguable, indeterminable; the universe appeared to be in a state of sleep, as it were. Then, the Self-originated Divine Being, Himself unmanifested, manifested this universe with its great elements etc., by tearing the veil of this darkness and revealing the forms of His creative energy. He, who is not to be beheld by the senses, who is subtle, the unmanifest, the everlasting, the unthinkable, the very embodiment of all beings,-He, of Himself, rose above this primordial darkness".
Manu-Smriti (I. 5-7)

"Verily, great is the glory of the Divine Creator."
(Rigveda 5:1:81 - 11)

"Gandhiji said good pleasant things about many public figures. He equally praised Krishna for his role in Mahabrarat. He regularly quoted from bhagvat gita.

It was his political compulsion to keep Hindus and Muslims in the subcontinent united. The above quote is written keeping that in mind.

Krishna, Mohammad and Gandhiji, all had their negetive dark side, like all of us."

Well written/ desi soul.
Any adverse comments on Muhamed and Islam would be political suicide for Gandhi.

"Islam was not spread by the sword or violence but it was propagated by the Islamic dawah using Hikmah and wisdom to convince non-muslims to abandon worshipping of false things and to come to the worship of the creator whose signs exist wherever one chooses to look."

Let us see how far Islam was propagated by Islamic dawah.

"Resources for the Study of Indian History
Disclaimer: Many claims and counter-claims have been made about the nature of the Arab, Persian and Turkish invasions of India which began in the eighth century and continued through the eighteenth century. Many of those who have made claims have failed to substantiate them using primary sources, which has resulted in confusion. This reference is based on research ranging over a wide range of primary sources, providing excerpts of relevant passages in English translation. Many of these texts were written by authors who accompanied the invaders and recorded what they saw in Arabic, Persian or Turkish. The source of these excerpts are the translations made by Sir H. M. Elliot, and edited and published in 24 volumes by John Dowson in 1867. Each scholar studying this material must make his or her own analysis and interpretation. No attempts are made here to make value judgements, nor should the historical events described herein be projected onto contemporary peoples or situations. In any balanced interpretation of today's society, this data would be only a small subset of the much larger set of information needed to reach a balanced conclusion".

Islam conqured Indian subcontinent with sword,Kuranic hate
to polytheists and idol worshippers.
