"If the mountain won't come to Mohammed, let Mohammed go to the mountain."

(It's like, "if you want some thing done you gotta do it yourself")

I have heard this saying a few times on the television and a couple of other people say it only thing is, I could have sworn it was only Moses (PBUH) who had a mountain and not Mohammed (PBUH)

Please can anyone advise me further. Were there 2 Prophets with mountains of their own or nope?

Thanks.

Salam Sis

Isn't it 'if Muhammad won't come to the mountain, let the mountain come to Muhammad?

Firstly I don't know if it refers to the Prophet pbuh, but it's a phrase used to show the the lengths one would go to make the other see heir view.

So for example, I imagine a movie-maker saying, 'If China won't come to Hollywood, let's take Hollywood to them..' in the metaphorical sense, geddit?

I could be wrong. Can anyone clarify?

But Muhammad pbuh and Musa pbuh did receive revelations on mountains - different ones - but I am not sure to what the saying is refering to. I have sometimes wondered too.

If you find out lemme know.

Was'salam.

aawwww,

hi buffy, jus to help u out

i hear this phrase now and then, i 1st came across it wen i was reading an english philosiper called Frances Bacon, im sure uve heard of him, he used it in a paaper called "Essays" back in 1625.

anyway the phrase is "IF THE MOUNTAIN WILL NOT COME TO MOHAMMED, MOHAMMED WILL GO TO THE MOUNTAIN"

and its meant to mean if you cant get sometihing done the way u want, u need to adjust to ur situation.

it is atributed to an incident invloving the Prophet swa however im not sure if it actually happend or if there are any Hadis that mention the incident.

Eropean writers say that wen asked for proof of his teaching the Prophet swa orderd Mount Safa to come to him, wen it didnt aprantly he sed that it was a demonstration of Allah ta's mercy, bcos if the mountain had moved it would have caused an earthquake to kill all the assembled unbelivers. he then aparantly sed that he will go to the mountain and give thanks to Allah ta

i cant fully make the connection between the proverv and the explanation, Frances bacon is unbelevebly boring.

i think it means that the Prphet tried to demostrate his teaching in one way but Allah ta showed him greater understading of Islam. ie he the prophet tried something which failed so he has now learnt and will adjust ie go to the mountain.

like i sed Bacon was broing and wrote nuff long time back, i dont know why i even picked up his ish.

there u go slaya as full as i could make it.
