at this moment there is something like 3million muslims performing Hajj, it will, insha allah, be a life changing experiance for those who undertake it. i hope and pray for my salvation, surly being a differnt person after Haaj is sighn that salvation might be in ones furture.
the thing is after Haaj millions will still die of starvation in Bangladesh, palestinains and chechans will still be fighting for a safe home. iraqi's will still be bombed. this has gota mean that despite 3million like minded people gathering in one place, with one objective, ie devotiong themselves to our Creator, despite all this there will be no consensus to ease the pain in the world, there will still be no "ummah" if the rest the world feels no great alarm at the thoght of such a vast gathering, if the world cannot feel the ripples of the pilgrims feet, if this gathering cannot inspire the those of us who have not yet been to change our own lives then surly Haaj is a failure.

This is a very complex topic - i will be brief though. ![]() We each do what we can. Hasn't the Hajj pilgrimage caused you to write your post? That in itself, however small, is a significant positive contribution. As long as we each as individuals contribute what we can, surely there is hope. How is this a failure? Was'salam. |

assalamu alaikum
hac, i think ur margins of succsess are far too broad. about now people will be returning home after ,ishaallah, sucsesfull completion of their Hajj. my point is that the world will still be the same when they get home, and my fear is that despite the brotherhood one must have experianced during Hajj these feelings of brotherhood will not extend much beyond Heathrow or LA or Osmani international airport. prerty soon peole will be going back to their lives, perhaps they will start praying five times a day, perhaps they will cherish their burka, perhaps they will send their child to a single sex school. but i feel their love for the starved in bangladesh, their love for the marsh arabs, their love for the light skinned somalis, their love for the child prostitutes throught the middle east will still only extend to anti american discussion over the dinnertable. me posting this thread is a meausure of the faliure of the 3 milion strong congregation that gatherd earlier this month. the fact that the world will still be the same is a measure of our "ummahs" failiure, we witness it evryday.
