To be honest with you Buterfly, most of my close friends are from Greater Sylhet, these are the ones that I can trust and share experiences and feelings with. Theses are the ones who are most supportive.

Anyway, Monday to Friday I tend to spend a lot of time with English peole, Pakistanis, Morrocans, Welsh, Indians, both male and female on a professional capacity.

It is best to be with your kind if it is available as this helps to preseve your identity, build and develop your culture and religious practices as well as institutions like mosque, shops, community groups. If we don't work with Bangldeshi's in my case mostly Sylhety's; you can't expect the non-Bangladeshi's to put it all on a plate for you.

I also believe that if you spend a lot of your time with non believers and start admiring their social structure you may end up being 'liked by them' and you may develop some of their good practices (which are nasty in religious terms). I don't believe that assimilation is for Muslims as you may end up spending more time in clubs and pubs in order to be liked by the majority of society.

Here in the UK Buterfly we have pockets (areas) of development based on Original background, Culture and Religion. Bradford dominated by Pakistani's, Tower hamlets Dominated by Bangladeshi's, Brixton dominated by Afro-Caribbean Communities and this pattern stretches all across the country. Furthermore for your information, in OLdham, Greater manchester, we have a large Community of Sylheti's (approximately 98% of all Bangladeshi's).

I hope that answers your question.

Feedback welcome.

Whats it like in Canada, is there a lot of Free mixing, is there a shortage of Sylheti's if so We ca arrange plane loads to rescue peole like you Buterfly.
