This is one of the many things I don't like about a liberal Western society.

This is wrong, islamically it is haram.

It will be very difficult for the government to get this passed, and furthermore a lot of teachers will refuse to teach the acceptance of gays and lesbianism as being a norm.

It is clearly referenced in the Quran that it is haram and it was a practice started by the people of Lut(Awsw) at a time when society in the middle east began to force decent people to move out if they didn't like the practice. More and more men were choosing men as partners and not looking at women as the natural partner allocated by Allah almighty.

Being a governor of a secondary School with a large ethnic minority intake, I will try my best to ensure that this is not adopted by the school. We have salready carried out petitions against this unislamic teaching.

You know, this really annoys me...whats wrong in being gay or lesbian...its an individual feeling which is purely up to who it may concern... though i'd agree with you about the fact of this issue being haram in our religion but at the end of the day you can't lie to your feelings right?!

Personally I think its good that the subject is being tought in school, it gives a chance for the students to realise the meaning of life & basically to stick to the reality!

Anyway, i consider everyone to be open minded without thinking about religion or race!

Take care & Adios!!!
Luv Rima"!

Being an Educator, Educationalist and an Educational Manager, I believe that majority of the teachers are sensible people and will not want to muddy the water by introducing a concept which is not natural, which is very controversional and I am sure that parents who put a lot of trust in teachers have a right to expect that their children are recieving sensible, decent education which develops the young person so that they can make better informed decisions.

I would argue that children go to school to learn new skills which will help them take advantage of the opportunities in the labour market when they leave education.

Furthermore teachers who are very skilled and in general wee educated decent people with lots of values will not want to promote a subject that they have little belief, little knowledge and understanding about.

Ethnic minorities in particular muslims have been too quiet in the field of education and as a result children have been taking part in lots of things that they can abstain from.

Example, when I was at school, we had to participate in collective worship (from the Christian point of view). Islamic view wasn't relevant.

Kids tend to accept teacherrs and what teachers teach them, they should not be teaching them that homosexuality is correct (section 28) as they don't want to be the one responsible for barinwashing a young vulnerable child even teenagers when their hormones are high as they may experiment with all sorts.

This practice of homosexuality is not accepted in any of the worlds major religion. I would like anyone to quote from any reliable source to prove me wrong.

If you want I can make reference to Islamic text.

I believe as more and more people from the ethnic minority community are going through the education system they are taking more interest into education issues and are influencing decisions affecting education. This is very encouraging. Always stand by what you believe until you find that what you believe doesn't make sense as you have been prescribed to believe in this.

Your opinions are welcome.

Ahad.

PS, Welcome back Buterfly. This is a very controversion issue in the UK as the government is trying to adopt the promotion of homosexuality by people working in schools.
