I came across this article while reading Marie Claire magazine last month-
Mother and Daughter with Same Husband - Bangladeshi Marriage Tradition - Marie Claire
It's about a widowed woman with one daughter from a small village in Bangladesh who remarried to a man with an arrangement that he was also marrying her and her daughter for once she comes of age. As mentioned when the family was interviewed in the article they do say it’s a rare situation and the tradition has generally died out. But what are anyone else’s thoughts on the article? Do you think even though generally rare polygamy is acceptable, maybe in other situations than this? If so, how often is it actual seen throughout?
(I'm doing a research presentation on basically the family culture and marriage in Bangladesh and when I came across this article I was just curious of anyone elses input that might be more familiar with the area, tradition and culture!?
Thanks!
