EXODUS 3:13-15....and moses said unto GOD,behold when i come unto the children of israel, and shall say unto them, the GOD of your fathers hath sent me unto you :and they shall say unto me what is his NAME ? what shall i say unto them ? and GOD said untuo moses, I AM THAT I AM; and he said ,thus shalt thou say unto the children of israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. and to verse 15......"THIS IS MY NAME FOR EVER,AND THIS IS MY MEMORIAL UNTO ALL GENERATIONS". and those words FOREVER mean what they say..so today in the year 2005 GODS NAME IS... I AM......brian

Christy says: Brian, you would be right only if Almighty God had only ONE Name!

But He has many in the OT : Here's the short list:

El Shaddai
El Elyon
Adonai
Yahweh or Jehovah
Jehovah Nissi
Jehovah-Raah
Jehovah Rapha
Jehovah Shammah
Jehovah Tsidkenu
Jehovah Mekoddishkem
El Olam
Elohim
Qanna
Jehovah Jireh
Jehovah Shalom
Jehovah Sabaoth

what about Illah?

in Mell Gibsons - Passian of Christ God was always referd to as illah, im asuming this is the hebrew word for god? and not really a name.

also can the word illah be pluralised?

I think these names are in Hebrew. When referring to God in their own language, the Arab Christians call Him "Allah".

And Elohim is actually a plural itself.

oh dear christy !

it seems CHRISTY that you have not really commited FAITHFULLY to memory the words of our LORD oh well ! never mind NOBODY is perfect! .if you really ARE interested in what our LORD said CHRISTY then here we go...JESUS when praying to GOD about his disciples spoke the FOLLOWING words ..please try and CONCENTRATE christy ! ...quote "i have made your N A M E known to them"..notice CHRISTY! JESUS said NAME (singular) NOT NAMES (plural)..JESUS made known ONE name ONLY to his disciples NOT many! AND THAT NAME WAS I AM (SINGULAR) NOT WE ARE (PLURAL)..."before ABRAHAM was I AM" (singular). " i and the father are ONE(singular)..he did not say i and the father are TWO (plural)...CHRISTY! JESUS did not tell his disciples that GOD has more than ONE name ,he told his disciples GODS ONE NAME..and that IS good enough for ME christy ..is it NOT good enough for YOU ?
