Spider Man 3

Peter Parker has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he is struggling to control. Under the influence of the suit, Peter becomes overconfident and starts to neglect the people who care for him most. Forced to choose between the seductive power of the new suit and the compassionate hero he used to be, Peter must overcome his personal demons as two of the most-feared villains yet, Sandman and Venom, gather unparalleled power and a thirst for retribution to threaten Peter and everyone he loves.

Sea of Dreams

First-time filmmaker Jose Bojorquez thinks very highly of his own movie. He has described Sea of Dreams as "a classic narrative," one that "creates a fascinating world." According to the press notes, the film is "is presented with a unique vision in the style of magical realism, devoid of cynicism and violence."

It's also devoid of good acting, writing and directing, but hey, at least the scenery is nice. A muddled fable set on a lush tropical island, Sea centers on Grecia (Sendi Bar), a beautiful woman who seems destined to be alone. Since she was a child, Grecia has had some sort of mystical connection with the ocean, scooping valuable black pearls from its depths and blessing the nets of fishermen to bring them bountiful catches.

This blessing comes with a curse, as every young man who falls for Grecia seems to meet with a horrible end in the briny deep. That doesn't deter Marcelo (Johnathon Schaech), a visitor to the island who falls for Grecia immediately. Can love prevail, or will the jealous sea destroy the island in a vengeful snit?

It's hard to root for the former, since Marcelo comes off as a suave pick-up artist straight off the cover of a romance novel, and there's no indication that Grecia has any feelings for him whatsoever. The story makes little sense even on a fairy-tale level, and while the resolution to Grecia's dilemma is meant to be uplifting in some way, it's actually rather unpleasant. The island looks like a lovely place to visit, if only we had better company.
