contemporary poetry! any interest?

For me, on the other hand, it is over,
politically, and as a human being.
I will never talk about myself again.
I will be taciturn, modest.
You will continue to look at me
from the outside and not know
what I have suffered. Still,
it may be difficult to forget
that I have been your leader.
It is this indebtedness
that will define you
as my greatest joy.

The scared who never dared.

I pity people who pay dread respect to the power

Of their own fear falling upon them like a cold shower.

As they walk stooped though young as if they

were the aged parent of time itself.

Their eyes cast down fearing any frown

shuffling in the shadow of stealth.

I pity people who live life like a prison sentence,

Never thinking the walls maybe an illusion of impermanence.

The eye that sees beyond the horizon locked

For the friendship of fear, and love mocked,

For a fair smile from fate all the while living

with hate, never knowing the pleasure of giving.

I pity people so silly so staid who never bared

Terror or an error, i pity the scared the who never dared.

I'm The One Called Doc

I shall not walk in your footsteps,
but I will walk by your side.
I shall not walk in your image,
I've earned my own title of pride.

We've answered the call together,
on sea and foreign land.
When the cry for help was given,
I've been there right at hand.

Whether I am on the ocean
or in the jungle wearing greens,
giving aid to my fellow man,
be it Sailors or Marines.

So the next time you see a corpsman
and you think of calling him "squid",
think of the job he's doing
as those before him did.

And if you ever have to go out there
and your life is on the block,
Look at the one right next to you...
