A Bengali Authorette you prolly never heard of...

Actually she's been around long enough and given that some of you are bookaholics, you prob have heard of her.

I can't say much of her - haven't read any of her books yet.

Tho i think TIL may be able to offer some comments on her

i think she wrote interpreter of maladies which was quite good....

loadsa short stories so kinda ideal cos you can finish one story at a time whist on the tube to work!

but again, i think she was is typical hyped up asian writer... nothing to write home about.

having said that, i havnt read any of her other books so dont take my opinion of her too seriously.

Finished it courtesy of long train journeys..

I thot it was a genuine page-turner..

tho didn't warm to most of the characters - and far too many coconuts in the tale - but that's prob what US Asians are like

What is it with you?

Noone's claiming anything - you might find this a difficult concept - but not everything has to be about Nationalism/Patriotism

I said she's bengali - THAT'S FACT - i did not say she was Bangladeshi - and i said that because you may find it difficult to believe, but there are some cultural and linguistic similarities between West Bengalis and present-day Bangladeshis, which may make her book more interesting to read.

And at least get your facts correct - she wasn't born in America.
