the book was quite funny in places but ends up quite ridiculous.
i dont wanna ruin the end for you, but does everyone else reckon the bit at the end involving the namaz mat was just taking the piss!

That book was F A B
Folks writers are meant to be nutty, they are observent and for some reason see the world through a different set of veils(fewer) than the rest of us. whod want to read`the writings of someone who had no insight and had a really uncaptivating persona?
by the way she described the loony bangla couple, she must really know us well. she wrote it with affection for her characters, thats obvious to me. it was also one of the rare occassions where you get bangla musalman characters in mainstream stuff. we are normally too invisible or pretending to be someone else. it was sooo funny taking characters to extremes for a major laugh. especially one twin doing the rude boy fundy thing then the other being shipped back to desh only to become very 'academically acheiving' but deny the faith, superb! I mean do the khilafa boys know about K E V I N ? someone really should let them know. >>i cant remeber the end but was probably a showdown involving the cooperation between 'anarchist and islamist element to thwart the fiendish mice from north london' right? How irritating/amusing did you find the white liberal family? |
