As for Harry Potter... you know Anisa, i'm thinkin what if it's one of them books which you read, and you feel as tho the author had the film in her mind as she was writin it..you know what i'm sayin??
Im astounded.

You're a Grisham fan, and you think JK Rowling writes as though she had a film in mind while she was writing...

no way! she is pure genius..... and the books are far far better than the films, which really shows that its all about the writing, not the big screen.

anyway, as we agreed, an alternative to Harry is Memoirs of a Geisha.... or perhaps Angela's Ashes. I'll add that to the choice now so that you can have a bit more variety to chose from..... see how nice i am!

Hey Khil!

I ended up buying a copy of it this week and finished it yesterday.... it was fab! ive never read a book quite like it before (lets hope that a whole range of copy-cat books dont start going into production.... i hate it when that happens!).

my fave bit has to be the bit when he's describing travelling on the tube. he got that so right.

anyway, it was a good pick! tanks

i see its the bestseller of the week this week too.

someone told me it was originally written as a children's book? is that true?..... i personally thought that children wouldnt be able to understand it that well, cos its simple yet complex at the same time and children just wouldnt 'get it'.

hey

i didnt know it was a children's book - ur right i dont think they wud have understood the whole thing, but then maybe its like the simpsons... where kids like it for what they do get and adults like it for all the hidden "in-yer-endos"

it's sad as well (like ur aunt said) in that there are so many people like that, who live in a world of their own that we dont understand

glad u liked it. i still aint had time to invest my book tokens, but am still deciding... angelas ashes seems to be ur favorite but it sounds kinda 'girly'

bye!

am reading it now..

and ye you see the book in the Whsmith Kiddie's section too

Early comments - i disagree with how he identifies prime numbers - u don't need to remove no's divisible by 4 and 6 surely, when you've already removed the one's divisible by 2 and 3 - it's annoying that that point is factually incorrect, esp when the kid's meant to be a math's whizz and particular about that kind of imperfection.

i thought the point of that was that it wasnt factually incorrect, but the fact that he calculates prime numbers in a different way to 'normal' ppl...
