now look here, you aren't talking about language either so what ARE you doind?
I could talk about bilingualism in Canada and the problem some people have in Quebec where most people resent you if you can't speak in french but this does not signify for most people and 90% of you probably don't know what I'm talking about.

well at least someone's replied
![]() actually if u look over some of the last threads, i wasss trying to talk abt language but ppl dont seem to interested in it :P but i wasnt implying at all that we speak abt summin else ![]() its an interesting subject u brought up there...maybe if u actually bring it up ud find out how many ppl do know abt it it is kinda strange that ppl r looked down upon in quebec if they dont speak french, but then their language is the most important aspect of their identity ie that which differentiates them from other canadians. i dont mean to say that justifies whatever they do, but to them, if ppl dont speak french then its symbolic of ppl taking away their culture and identity. its like going to the south of india and using hindi instead of tamil, or some other native language. alot of them resent hindi cos they see it as a "foreign" ie non indigenous language which the govt is imposing on em ... and to some more extreme ppl, getting rid of their identity. i suppose it is a different case if u r trying to learn the language but find it difficult cos im sure the ppl would appreciate it. but moving to an area where one language is predominantly spoken and not making the effort at all to learn even the basics is quite disturbing wouldnt u say? (btw im not assuming anyone here is doing that :P) i would say that the natives have every rite to feel indignant abt it but then again canada is a special case...its ironic that u HAVE to have facilities for french speakereven in provinces where there r more ukranian speakers ![]() neways would be interesting to see some replies ![]() PS Star ....le probleme augmentera si on commence a parler en francais car le plupart ne comprennait pas :P |
