Talking sylethi -curse or blessing?

As a non-native Sylheti speaker I am uniquely placed to offer an opinion on this subject. The bengali films (particularly the old ones) all seem to be in classical bengali. Only lately have Sylhetis been represented on Bangladesh TV as having any credibility! The news media (written and broadcast) are still in Dhakia. Sylheti outworkers contribute sooooooo much to the Bangladesh economy but their views are largely ignored because they are Londoni and don't live in Bangladesh although their entire dependant families do! Sylhet as a division is largely passed over when it comes to regional development issues and always seems to be the last to get Government Aid. There seems to be a prevalent attitude, in Dhaka mainly, that if Sylhet Division wants development they can jolly well get the Londonis to pay for it! Jealous or what!
Also when Sylheti families in the UK need Interpreting services, why is it that there is only a Dhakia or Indian Bengali speaker available. I have been in the situation where I have actually had to Interpret the Intepreter because the Dhakia Interpreter refused to admit to understanding Sylheti. You can imagine the length of time even simple conversations can take under those circumstances! Come on you well educated Sylheti speakers! Do something for your community. Don't let the Dhakia mafia put you down!

Talking

Just to let u guyz know, we should promote the true sylheti language and not the dialect. Our lost language is known as NAGRI.

yes we sylhetis have a lost language with its own alphabets.
unfortunately i do not like the imperialist bengali culture.

I am proud of Sylheti Culture, language and people. Just fed up of Non sylhetis controlling our land, snatching our freedom, dictating our policies and stealing our wealth.

Well this goes both to the Indian and Bangladeshi governments.

One day the Sylhetis will have their independence and the land will once again be called Jalalabad.
