Which word(s) do you like the sound of or use excessively in everyday discourse? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a Bengali or English word. It could be something you've learnt at school or picked up off mates.

Lately I’ve caught myself repeatedly using the word ‘nishchoi’i’ in Bengali. Meaning ‘of course’ or ‘naturally.’ I reckon it makes me sound sophisticated.

I've been told by friends that I'm really good at saying 'but of course' in a condescending manner. I think I've got to stop saying that, or I'll start losing friends quick.

I reckon we noticed you doing that rins. I can just imagine you giving the recipient a withering look to match.

You should give nishchoi’i a try.

Happy New Year all.

i always say 'anyway' a lot..... and 'the other day' even if im speaking about an event that happened 10 years ago.... that really winds my best mate up. soon as the words 'the other day' come out of my mouth, she's like 'was it really the other day' and i go 'well.... actually, it was about 2 years ago'.....

but then again, i seem to be losing concept of time with my old age. things that seem like they happened only a few months ago actually happened about 5 years back.... i cant believe i have been a graduate for almost three years now, cos it seems like just yesterday i was living at uni with my mates.... time flies!
