i think this argument is getting a bit tedious now. its better that we just agree to disagree. its not so much the fact that there r ppl who prefer bangla out there that is upsetting... its more the overall outlook that comes with it... the way of thinking.. the thoughts which have been expressed through these threads, its unbeleivably unislamic.
a certain indavidual which i wont name, to not embarass her yet again, "wishes and hopes bad for a muslim brother"-this is amazing. the same person, "Hates" people like myself who try hold onto islam as much as possible and not comprimise. another person uses the word "extremist", a word used just like Mr Bush, about ppl who try their best to not let their islam become dilluted. this is unbeleivably sad, that we have let islam become a side issue, something we turn to in need, and not let run through our daily lives. in fact, we start thinking like the kufar, using terminology just like them, disliking those type of muslims who they dislike. i am not talkin about those that commit haram acts, like suicide, and bombing... i am talkin about simple people who live their entire life by islam- the West hate these people, and so do the "muslims".

You must be kidding
Look...I'm a Hindu (you can call me a kafir as much as you want, I really don't care) and don't believe that God gave divine wisdom to Muhammad, and so I don't believe that Arabic was any divine language. Secondly, even if I did believe in Islam, I probably won't believe that God revealed himself in Arabic...here are the logical reasons (but if you are too fundamentalist, then be my guest to skip this over): (1) God chose Muhammad and thus had to reveal himself in a way Muhammad had to understand, hence it must have been Arabic since he understood it the best (if he knew other languages at all), (2) In order to spread his (Muhammad's) teachings, he had to spread it through the Arabic region, hence the Quran had to be in Arabic, (3) If God believed that Arabic was the best language, he would give every human being the ability to speak Arabic, (4) God also supposedly revealed himself through other prophets and they certainly did not know Arabic (they were Hebrews), and (5) the Arabic of today is completely different than that of Muhammad's, therefore, learn Classical Arabic instead and not Modern Standard Arabic.
As for Bengali, I love Bengali...In fact, my mother tongue is Hindi/Urdu but I wish to learn Bengali because of its innate sweetness. As for Nationalism not being part of Islam, whoever said that stated a contradiction in himself. A nation is defined by religion, culture, etc. and therefore, seeing an entire community on the basis of faith (like Islam) makes it a nation. Your advocacy of Arabic for ALL muslims also expresses your desire to create a new nationality regardless of race based upon religion and language...hence you have contradicted yourself. Let me state here that I too, as a Hindu, have tendencies to regard Sanskrit as superior over Hindi/Urdu, but I try to suppress them. I see Sanskrit, the mother of both Hindi and Urdu as human-derived but its grammar, which I see as perfect, imbued with divinity. If you wish to argue that about Arabic, I would somewhat understand (I don't believe Classical Arabic is as regular as Sanskrit though), but otherwise I really can't understand your statements. |
