Well guys Its good that we can speak english and communicate in our native languages BUT its important for the brotherhood of the Umma and for the unity in Islamic world that we have one language. And its should be one of our priorities to learn Arabic and make sure our next generations does so too.
Salam

what to u mean my learing arabic?
1) Learing how to read the Koran. 2) Acctually learn to speak and write Arabic. i can do 1, but 2 is a bit too "pushing it." Even if its an amazing language. like b4 someone said, its how u pray, not what language. and. Its vert important that we make sure our childrens can read the Koran.

English compare to Arabic
Having been taking a short summer course in Qur'anic Arabic...
And with english being my 1st tongue I can truly say that English is a rubbish language. It is imprecise (compared to Arabic). Arabic is the most beautiful language ever - which is one of the reasons the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet [saws]) cried when they heard the language used English translations pof the Qur'an are ok - but are largely vague. This is why u get dumb ppl (eg Cool_Indian, Samtel and Andywelik) misquoting the Qur'an and attempting to find contradictions in our Holy Book. A very very simple example is the misconception that Allaah (swt) created the world in 6 days... In Surat-Al Araf, some translate this as 6 days however this would be misleading. The closest translation is a 'period of time'... no real English word shows the true meaning So it depends really. For me, someone who is Qur'an illiterate - i.e. can read but dont understand... the English is ok. but not if you want a true understanding of the Qur'an So I believe (having studied Arabic somewhat and English and Bangla) that Arabic is by far the most beautiful language in the world. Unfortunately it's not spoken any more. Salaam PS. The ref is: Surely your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods of time, and He is firm in power; He throws the veil of night over the day, which it pursues incessantly; and (He created) the sun and the moon and the stars, made subservient by His command; surely His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. [7:54] Surat-Al A'raf
