in canada this sikh dude has been remeoved from the nationl railway service on two seperate occasions bcos he was wearing a kirpan (dagger).
the dude is saying that it his right under relgious freedom laws that he should be allowed to wear the dagger on the train. Now my 1st instict is to disagree, i mean if there is a law against weapons on the train why should exceptions be made? however are there similar circumstances where we as muslims would benefit from a similar exception? i mean surley its pretty similar to women being made to remove their headscarves. should we support this sikh dude in his fight to be able to carry a dagger on the train? http://www.panthic.org/news/123/ARTI...005-10-30.html

It really depends what he is going to use the dagger for. If it is to fulfill his religious obligation of the 5Ks or is it 7Ks, and he isn't going to start attacking people, then it's alright.
A lot of people carry weapons these days, most notable youngsters who are trying to be *cool*. |

well im pretty sure that most singhs who do carry a kirpan have no intention of hurting peeps with it.
but does that mean they can thy be allowed to carry a weapon whne no other citizen is allowed to?

Why's it got to be a dagger though? There are less risky 'dagger' like things that Sikhs can carry that will fulfill that religious whatever.
& the only extremists Canada's ever had a problem with were Sikh ones (Air India bombing back few years) FYI...
