Dear Kali, A rather belated reply to your contentions. Firstly, Hidus are not the original inhabitants of India. They were a horde of Aryan barbarians who invaded India some five thousand years ago and conquered the Indus basin where a great civilisation thrived. They completely destroyed this civilisation and enslaved the people and reduced them into what they call ed the untouchables. Since they were not civilised people, there is no sign of any civilised activity in the Indian subcontinent for the next 2000 years. Then they gradually developed a new civilisation in north India. Hinduism was never a religion and it was never preached. It was the way of life of the Central Asian Aryans who came down in hordes over the milleniums to India, Iran, Afganistan, The Arabian peninsula, The Lavent, Asia Minor and ofcourse the whole of Europe. The Muslims who came to India were decendents of converts themselves and they did not have to force Hidnus to become muslims. The oppressed lower caste Hindus who were the original inhabitants of India, embraced Islam to get freedom and rights.
Please do not get me wrong; this is not to say that there is no oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh (I shall not deal with Muslims in India, whose condition has been termed as worse than the "Dalits" - the same original inhabitants). I am totally opposed to oppression of any group by another. There is no official policy of discrimination in Bangladesh (although various governments have given an impression of Islamisation to appease the Saudis, where more than a million Bangladeshi are employed, even many Hindus) unlike in some other Muslim countries but a large part of the Muslim community do discriminate against Hindus in jobs, business and other fields. We must take affirmative actions against the disadvantaged Hidnus and make an effort to see Hindus, Chritians, Budhdhists get the due share of the jobs, business opportunities etc. The important thing is to be positive. Negative thinking will take us no where.

Those are not the facts.
The aryan invasion that supoposedly led to the breakup of the Harrapan civilisation has been confined to the dustbin of human history, as the ancient river saraswati dried up, this has been shown in BBC Michael Woods programme, backed up scientific evidence.
