From its earliest beginning, the core of Islam has never been an inner-directed search, but the founding, consolidation and expansion of a State. The religion has been an instrument to justify conquest, conversion and subjugation.

In addition there has always been an anxiety about the revelations and the doctrine that flowed from them. From the earliest days, there has been the strictest embargo on examining the revelations. The Muslim is urged not to ask questions. The Muslim must accept the doctrine as God’s own creation, lest they fall apart on questioning.

There has always been this anxiety that the doctrines would not withstand careful scrutiny. After all the doctrines are nothing but some directives written by some clever Arabian men, reflecting 7-th century knowledge of the world. But they have been projected as the eternal words of God. This anxiety has naturally intensified with each scientific breakthrough.

But the uneasiness has also intensified on other areas, not only science. The well-known claim is that Islam provides a blueprint for the entire life and relationships. The result is that, progress in every sphere (e.g., progressive democratization of governments, separation of religion from the state, progressive humanization of laws, egalitarian and humane ways of viewing the weak, women and minorities) has exacerbated the anxiety. As a result, Islam is still living in 7-th century Arabia, while the world has moved on, leaving it groping in the dark.

Load of crap, I suggest before you bad mouth any religion you do some research. For you I suggest watching "Islam, Empire of Faith" get a copy from PBS. Further you must find more about R&D done between 800 and 1600AD. Do a google on moorsih civilization.

And last but not least just shutup.

I'm just sick and tired of these Indian Idiots who have no protein in their dosa-eating vegetarian brains who know only to copy anti-muslim crap from the VHP website.

Get it through your head, MALOO. Yours is a man-made religion. A religion which oppresses it's member human beings in scores of classes and makes out weird rules cannot be universally successful. Pakistan and BD were almost all hindu at one time, why did they embrace Islam?

Hinduism is seen nowhere except India. OTOH, Islam is expanding at a phenomenal rate. And it will keep expanding, regardless of your propaganda.

But I don't have to feed you this. You won't understand.

You should have more patience..sabr. The advice goes to me and other Muslim brothers also.. Insulting doesn't achieve much in terms of interfaith relation.
