Best of both worlds I suppose.

Maybe I'll do the same myself.

But you can get trouble anywhere, if you go looking for it.

Im not from America but over the course of many years (4 yrs really, but I think was going nuts coz the country and its democracy is being abused! How is it that a hillbilly that most Americans didn't vote for become president! it’s a new millennium, y is Bush taking us back in time. its getting close to nazi in my book!!!!!!!) of living in Washington, I have picked up a lot of terms and even developed a slight accent... its a bizarre combination.

Actually, I have what my english friends think of as a very soft accent for an "American", not the really harsh NY accent u hear. When I speak over here I have to repeat myself like when I asked for locks and the man at the shop gave me lux LOL gets stressful after a while so i decided not to speak much to save all the repetition! I also have a banglish accent that returns (strongly) when I talk to ma family. Especially when I say America (aamrica) or Washington (washingttoon)

Yea when u say asia most ppl think of China or east asia. If someone says my father is Indian and my mother is Chinese, ppl would be like so you're half Indian and half asian LOL its probably gotta do with the past and America's strong relationship with china. Besides, there aren't nearly as many south Asians as Chinese over there.

I know u have explained about the situation in Bradford and lon but it just doesn't sink in. It must've been painful for you to see it with ur own eyes. With these girls it makes me think of how other ppl see me as a Bangladeshi. I hope some of them have the good sense to ask for help. Didn't anyone give these girls a sense of their own self-worth?

On a different note, things seem a lot more tolerant here, I mean with kids... we have far more of a drinking culture in the uk. Coz there is no such thing as ID. girls as young as 13-16 will often tart themselves up to sneak into nightclubs and pubs. Parents often view it as a right of passage getting drunk etc.

I never hear about that aspect of culture in America as much though due to strict ID policy. Although I'm sure the kids still find access to booze at home and using fake ID.The US does treat kids differently. The age laws are all higher there, all of which are of course widely ignored.

Re: Bang_Ali

So are you a brit-Bangladeshi? How come you were in Washington for 4 years?

I actually felt like going over to these girls and giving them a slap and sending them home, but at the end of the day, that wouldn't have changed anything.

Really, I blame it mostly on the parents. I know there are exceptions, but the reason why they end up like this is because:

1) Parents didn't know what they did, and so did nothing or

2) Parents knew, but those scummy parents didn't care anyway and did nothing or

3) Parents were distracted by other things, like work, money, health problems etc and

they went astray. Maybe looking for attention? Usually its after some guy gets them addicted to drugs, which she can only afford if she became a prostitute.

The worst case being the girl I mentioned earlier where the dad used to spend most of his time in a Mosque, and didn't pay any attention to the daughter whatsoever. It was ironic (and sad) that she ended up working as a prostitute right near to that Mosque.

One of the problems I have with the Tablighis is that they accuse us of being too engrossed in this world. But almost all of the ones that approach me have the worst kids you can think of. I don't know how I manage to not tell them to **** off and sort their own kids out first.

But I suppose I just feel sorry for them and let them have their say and send them on their way.

But I don't see why someone should need to teach these sluts self-respect. Prostitution is looked down on by most cultures/societies. So why do they do this to themself?

They should take responsibility for themself more. Worst is when they stray from their normal streets and start to approach people on the streets, thats when you really feel like hitting them, when they approach you (and are within striking distance).

Like I said, its because these girls need to support their drug habit, which was probably started at a young age, by some guy that wants to groom her for the future. Once they are addicted, then its a sure source of income for many years for the pimps.

Not many of them actually leave, unless they get too old for it.

But I don't feel sorry for them, they brought it on themself.
