Has anyone heard about that ingredient in like fizzy drinks and juices, that apparently causes cancer, aspartame.

Anyone heard of it? anyone care to give some info on this, and is it really true, that it can cause cancer?

Salaam Dreamo

ummm yeah well aspartene is a source of phenylamine or somink and that's carcinogenic i guess..

so there is some evidence to suggest that aspartene may have a link to a greater risk of thingying cancer - but that evidence is not really confirmed - hence you'll see everyone still drinkin diet drinks and stuff.

kinda like mobile fones i guess.

I'd say there prob aint no harm in the odd drink of diet stuff / artifical sweeteners - but not to have them alll the time.

Salam bro, thanx for that intellectual reply. . But, 'thingying cancer', either that's some highly technical word that I'm just not getting or you just got stuck for words!
Well, I doubt people would give it up anyway! According to the votes on the thread about pepsi or coke, looks like
everyone, has either one or the other!
Oh yeh, and 'dreamo'? I think your fingers might have slipped on the keyboard bro, you seem to have put an extra o on the end!

Talking Hehe

I think the key word is moderation. You cannot get cancer just by consuming aspertame (NutraSweet) alone. Many other factors come into play, such as genetic factors, diet and lifestyle. If anyone is worried about cancer, then they shouldn't even be exposed to sunlight, because, hey...that will cause (skin) cancer too. Moderation....InsyaAllah everything will be fine.
