After coming to Canada I have been very HALAL concious. I have to check everything to find out if it is HALAL or not.
1) Are we sure that everything we eat back in Bangladesh is HALAL? We assume that but never venture to check it. 2) If an animal is slaughtered WITHOUT saying Bismillahir Rahmanur Rahim(obviously not sacrificed to anything else) is it halal? 3) Does anyone know what kind of oil they use for fries in MacDonalds/ Burger King (LARD or VEGE. OIL)? Thanks. |

The oild at the first food places varies from shop to shop. Best is to ask them. Or ask a friend who works there. That's what we do.
Bangladesh, the assumption is made because 90 % of the people are muslim. But we should still check. It should not be assumed always. Atleast when it comes to foreign imports. If it is slaughtered by someone from the people of the book (i.e. Jews and Christian) it is to be considered halal. Most scholars agree on this. However, if someone belonging to a different faith group slaughters it, it is considered Haram even if they say Bismillah. Someone who believes in Allah will understand the meaning of Bismillah.

They are considered to be people of the book. I personally don't eat anything outside, just to be on the safe side but many a sheikh has ruled on this and it si clear because the Qur'an is explicit about it.
